Susanna - Censored by GoodReads Is Loneliness of the Long-Distance Runner a play?

I thought it was short-stories.

Themis-Athena (Lioness at Large) I thought so too ...

Darren Quinn Lots of these plays aren't British, but Irish.

Themis-Athena (Lioness at Large) From the list description:

"Including Ireland while it was an English possession."

That would include the likes of Shaw and Wilde. Do you see any plays by Irish(-born) authors from the period after 1922?

Themis-Athena (Lioness at Large) The list creator is a Goodreads librarian; I take it that any books added by others she felt were totally mischaracterized here, she'd have deleted (and probably commented on it here).

Synge's plays are within the description given for this particular list, as they date from before 1922. Goodreads librarians are warned only to delete books from a list if their inclusion constitutes an egregious mischaracterization. As long as the list description contains the sentence I quoted above, that doesn't apply to Synge's plays any more than it does to Shaw's and Wilde's.

Darren Quinn If I created a list called "Best Irish Plays" (including Britain before 1922), and included Shakespeare on my list, everyone would say: "But Shakespeare's not Irish!" They'd be right. Technically, the inclusion of Shakespeare fits the list description, but really it's a misrepresentation of him as an Irishman, which he isn't.
