Mir Voodoo Handbag could be the band, and Dance of the Voodoo Handbag could be their greatest hits album.

message 2: by Bettie (new)

Bettie Miriam, it's got to be said, you are one swell gel and a game dame. New to the charts this week is Soul Music by Pterry and the Pratchelettes.

Bettie Miriam wrote: "Voodoo Handbag could be the band, and Dance of the Voodoo Handbag could be their greatest hits album."

There was at least three months between this Greatest Hits and the following album 'Best Of'. There is excitement growing that there may be a 'Very Best of' in the Very Near Future.

message 4: by Mir (new)

Mir "Wonder Smith" would work without the "the" and "son".

message 5: by Bettie (new)

Bettie The Silver Pigs are heavily into Metal

message 6: by Mir (new)

Mir So is Just Measure of Pain.

message 7: by Bettie (new)

Bettie Here, unfortunately, the brother was absent due to a brief groupie encounter of the dangerous kind.

Mir Ritual sex while being initiated into a mystery cult?

message 9: by Bettie (new)

Bettie Miriam wrote: "Ritual sex while being initiated into a mystery cult?"

He was hoping but was left stripped-nekkid in

Thom Dunn Miriam wrote: ""Wonder Smith" would work without the "the" and "son"."

Have put up a bunch of titles assuming people will know to leave out "The" where best to.

Hot dog, Where ? When ? Never mind why.

"Nekkid" ? I'm guessing in Tennessee or Kentucky.

message 13: by Mir (new)

Mir Googlemaps says Hobo Alley is in Woodland, California.
That would be balmy weather for being left naked in the alley.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads I figure Cannery Row is a "hair band."

message 15: by Mark (new)

Mark love this list. Really fun and I so want to buy an album by ' Flotsametrics and the Floating world '

message 16: by Thom (new)

Thom Dunn Mark wrote: "love this list. Really fun and I so want to buy an album by ' Flotsametrics and the Floating world '"

There is also a list of Most Poetic Titles....not sure how listed.

Heather (DeathByBook) Bettie wrote: "Miriam wrote: "Voodoo Handbag could be the band, and Dance of the Voodoo Handbag could be their greatest hits album."

Are they a Wall of Voodoo cover band?

message 18: by Mir (new)

Mir If there is such a thing as a Wall of Voodoo cover band, they should totally use that band name.

message 20: by Lynne (new)

Lynne Lowe Wow, this is a great list!

message 21: by Mir (new)

Mir Thanks, Lynne! Feel free to add to it.

message 22: by Lynne (new)

Lynne Lowe Thanks Miriam. I try to come up with new titles, but it will be hard to top the ones already on this list.

message 23: by Mir (new)

Mir If only some authors would read this thread and tailor their titles accordingly.

message 24: by [deleted user] (last edited May 28, 2012 09:51AM) (new)

good list. but White Noise were a band nearly twenty years before the book.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MyoElD...

Pokątnik Złowieszczek From the Dust Returned would be a perfect title for the album by the band called The Church Of Dead Girls

message 26: by Mir (new)

Mir Nice call, Hanna.

message 27: by Saturday's (new)

Saturday's Child Lol - love this list and some of the books added to it. :)

message 28: by Keith (new)

Keith Where has this list been all my life?! :-P

message 29: by Mir (new)

Mir Keith wrote: "Where has this list been all my life?! :-P"

You were probably busy listening to music.

Zombieslayer⚡Alienhunter My band would be The Outsiders, most definitely.
I'd probably change my name to Tex, since i'd be the lead vocalist.

message 31: by Mir (new)

Mir There are already at least two bands that have been called The Outsiders, but you could be Tex and the Outsiders.

message 32: by Debbie (new)

Debbie Haha, what a great list!

message 33: by Keith (new)

Keith Some of my choices and my notions of what sorts of bands/albums the names might represent:

Slaine: Warrior's Dawn - A Celtic black metal band and their debut album.
Surface Detail - 80s prog rock band.
Children of the Lens - Retro "flower power" band made up of the children of photographers and movie stars.
The Hydrogen Sonata - Prog rock concept album.
Power of Three - All-female Celtic rock band.
Off Armageddon Reef - Gloriously over-the-top speed metal album.

message 34: by Mir (new)

Mir Nice. I especially like Hydrogen Sonata. Feel free to add these to the list, if you haven't already (the link to do so is at the top of the list under the description).

message 35: by Savannah (new)

Savannah Miriam wrote: "Voodoo Handbag could be the band, and Dance of the Voodoo Handbag could be their greatest hits album."

haha that's brilliant

message 36: by Keith (new)

Keith I already added those and more, I just posted the comment in case people found my musical genre choices amusing. :-)

message 37: by Mir (new)

Mir Good job, Keith. I'm picturing Hydrogen Sonata as a hobby band composed of science professors.

message 38: by Keith (new)

Keith Some suggestions for the genres of some of the top choices on the list:

The Hollow Chocolate Bunnies of the Apocalypse - Parody metal band
White Noise - Highly experimental electronic band/album with music based on natural electronic signals
The Night Circus - Debut album of a somewhat gothic rock band (cf. My Chemical Romance's Welcome To The Black Parade)
Dead Bitch Society - All-female punk band specializing in protest songs and stunts aimed against misogyny and sexual violence
The Outsiders - Poseur wannabe rebellious rock band whose members all turn out to be filthy rich public schoolboys
The Human Stain - Controversial punk album

message 39: by Chrisl (new)

Chrisl Hanna wrote: "From the Dust Returned would be a perfect title for the album by the band called The Church Of Dead Girls"

Children of the Dust

message 40: by Mir (new)

Mir Already used by folk musician Pete Arnold! But yes, good title.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads You add books to the list at the top of the list, at the tab next to "all votes."

Pokątnik Złowieszczek Susanna - Censored by GoodReads wrote: "You add books to the list at the top of the list, at the tab next to "all votes.""

Was it to me? I know and I have already added the book. I just wanted to share because I like it and I thought it might get lost.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads Sorry, Hanna - I see people trying to vote in the comments section so often it's my reflexive post.

message 45: by Lydia (new)

Lydia Great Expectations is actually already the name of a song

message 46: by Alexandre (new)

Alexandre Gingras there is a band called Airborne Toxic Event which is from #5 on this list, White Noise.

message 47: by Mir (new)

Mir Airborne Toxic Event is an excellent band.

message 48: by Pokątnik Złowieszczek (last edited Mar 16, 2017 01:28PM) (new)

Pokątnik Złowieszczek Genres to some of my suggestions - inspired by Keith.

Sankta Psyko would be deathrock/horror punk band, loud, dirty sounding and with a bit of dark humour.

Watching for Mermaids would be dreamy, cinematic and strongly influenced by Cocteau Twins.

Shadowmarch could play dark, epic doom metal, something like Candlemass.

Angels and Insects would be a goth band.

message 49: by Mir (new)

Mir Hanna wrote: "Genres to some of my suggestions - inspired by Keith.

[book:Watching for Merm..."

Nice! Swedish Death Metal band with lyrics about insanity and doom?

The albums you describe sounds better than the books, to be honest.

message 50: by Mir (new)

Mir Morgaine wrote: "The Hollow Chocolate Bunnies of the Apocalypse is Voltaire's next album."

Aurelio Voltaire or Cabaret Voltaire? Oddly, I can see either fitting...
