Jaye #9 Pet Sematary
Wasn't that more of a zombie type character rather than a ghost? It didn't seem to be ghost-like.

message 2: by [deleted user] (new)

No, it was the ghost of Victor Pascow.

message 3: by Paul (new)

Paul Bowes Checked for duplicates: 4 books removed.

BookLovingLady (deceased Jan. 25, 2023...) Just full length novels or short stories too?

Dorlana Booklovinglady wrote: "Just full length novels or short stories too?"

I don't think the length matters - just as long as it is one of your favorite ghost stories :)

BookLovingLady (deceased Jan. 25, 2023...) Dorlana wrote: "I don't think the length matters - just as long as it is one of your favorite ghost stories :)"

Thanks :-)

BookLovingLady (deceased Jan. 25, 2023...) Remind me: Where's the ghost in Alias Grace (#50)? And in The Return of the King (#213)?

It's just too long ago that I read these books, as I can't remember...

message 9: by Kylie (new)

Kylie there was a mountain full of ghosts in The Return Of The King.

BookLovingLady (deceased Jan. 25, 2023...) Kylie wrote: "there was a mountain full of ghosts in The Return Of The King."

I honestly can't remember... :-) Such a long time since I read the book.

message 11: by Kylie (new)

Kylie I've read it more recently,,, I love the books and the movies.

BookLovingLady (deceased Jan. 25, 2023...) Kylie wrote: "I've read it more recently,,, I love the books and the movies."

I don't have time to reread it, as there are so many unread books on my shelves that I'd really like to read....

message 13: by Kylie (new)

Kylie I have so many also but sometimes the choice of which new book to start is too hard so I pick up an old favourite and read that instead. Ha ha ha.

BookLovingLady (deceased Jan. 25, 2023...) Kylie wrote: "I have so many also but sometimes the choice of which new book to start is too hard so I pick up an old favourite and read that instead. Ha ha ha."

I can spend ages just reading the back covers and trying to decide which book to read next :-)

message 15: by Kylie (new)

Kylie Exactly. I'm terrible at the library and book stores too.

BookLovingLady (deceased Jan. 25, 2023...) Kylie wrote: "Exactly. I'm terrible at the library and book stores too."

I try to avoid bookstores as much as I can nowadays :-) And I've cancelled my library subscription a few years back, which helps too.

message 17: by Kylie (new)

Kylie That's very brave, I can't bring myself to do the same.

BookLovingLady (deceased Jan. 25, 2023...) Kylie wrote: "That's very brave, I can't bring myself to do the same."

I had to ;-) Just have a look at the number of books I have on GR. Only 1000 or so are Kindle editions, freebees mostly, and another 100 or so I borrowed. All the other books I have here, which means I have my own little library to pick and choose from.... :-)

message 19: by Kylie (new)

Kylie I've spent the last few weeks sorting my rather large library (both physical and electronic) and have realised I don't think I have enough years left to read them all. I think my daughter is going to inherit my TBR list. hahahaha

BookLovingLady (deceased Jan. 25, 2023...) Kylie wrote: "... and have realised I don't think I have enough years left to read them all. ..."

Same here. Which is exactly why I try to avoid bookshops and cancelled my library subscription :-)

Vicki There are several nonfiction entries above: The Art of Loving and Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook. Careless keystrokes???

message 22: by BookLovingLady (deceased Jan. 25, 2023...) (last edited Mar 29, 2017 12:40AM) (new)

Next time, do mention their position and I'll have a look and remove them. Thanks.

Found The Art of Loving on page 5 and Better Homes and Gardens New Cook Book on page 7. I've removed both.

message 23: by Dylan (new)

Dylan There are no ghosts in The Green Mile. Should be removed from this list.

BookLovingLady (deceased Jan. 25, 2023...) Sherri wrote: "There are no ghosts in The Green Mile. Should be removed from this list."

Done.

message 25: by ``Laurie (new)

``Laurie What a great list, I've had so much fun with this one.
Now there's about 100 new books I want to read!

message 26: by Erie (last edited Jan 13, 2019 03:38PM) (new)

Erie Dolores Claiborne, It, Dracula, Carrie, Horns, Salem's Lot, Rebecca, and Pet Sematary should all be removed. None of them have anything to do with ghosts. I could probably make a case for Duma Key as well, but I can understand the ambiguity there.

All on the first page.

message 27: by Stephen (new)

Stephen Hayes Jaye wrote: "#9 Pet Sematary

Agreed. I didn't vote for it here, but voted for it among zombie stories.

message 28: by Dorlana (new)

Dorlana The rockabilly werewolf from Mars wrote: "What's with all the cookbooks?" I only found one and deleted it. Maybe someone else deleted the others. But if you see anymore, reply with the number if you can. Thanks!

message 29: by Susan (new)

Susan Kurth There were no ghosts in "Rebecca." I've read it 20 times.

message 30: by Susan (new)

Susan Kurth Erie wrote: "Dolores Claiborne, It, Dracula, Carrie, Horns, Salem's Lot, Rebecca, and Pet Sematary should all be removed. None of them have anything to do with ghosts. I could probably make a case for Duma Key ..."

I agree! Although Pet Sematary *sort of* had ghosts, or rather the undead . . .

message 31: by Stephen (new)

Stephen Hayes "Pet Sematary" is definitely a zombie story, not a ghost story. Zombies are not ghosts. Ghosts are bodiless spirits, zombies are spiritless bodies.

message 32: by Dorlana (new)

Dorlana Susan wrote: "Erie wrote: "Dolores Claiborne, It, Dracula, Carrie, Horns, Salem's Lot, Rebecca, and Pet Sematary should all be removed. None of them have anything to do with ghosts. I could probably make a case ..."

Hi, I removed Rebecca -

message 33: by Dorlana (new)

Dorlana There were a lot of votes for Pet Sematary, but there are no ghosts, so it has been deleted.

message 34: by Freddie (new)

Freddie Gormack-Smith where are the ghosts in Goblet of Fire?

message 35: by Stephen (new)

Stephen Hayes Jaye wrote: "#9 Pet Sematary

Yes, Pet Sematary is more of a zombie story than a ghost story. It's actually a classic zombie story, and if there's a list for zombie stories it should be at or near the top.
