Frederick Coxen I read The Guns of August for background information for a book I was working on. I found it very well written and it gave me a very excellent foundation for understanding the political atmosphere that help lead up to the war. Have you read The Great Promise? This book approaches the war from the personal memoirs of a Royal Field Artillery telephonist. It describes the hell of war in more detail than any WWI history book I've read. It is written by Frederick L Coxen. Check it out
