Poll

Regarding the Presidents' Series: - Starting new poll since we have scheduled two of the presidents with the most votes already for later in the year - so you have a brand new chance to vote again
Which president are you most interested in reading about and discussing next? Select one.
To make this poll clearer - we have updated the reading order of the presidents in the past few months and we have scheduled the top vote getters (Washington and Madison) and we want to update the list for the next selected presidents.
We are reading a book about each of the presidents and discussing each president as part of a series we call the Presidential Series for all folks new to the History Book Club - it is just one of the Series and offerings that we have which are on-going. One reason is that the goodreads polls themselves have not been working for large groups so that the moderator could select group and all to alert group members that there was even a poll to vote on like we had done before - they still are not working that way or the way they used to.
We have already read and discussed books or have an upcoming book slated on all of the following presidents so we have not included them in the list of presidents that we have not covered to date
List of Presidents covered either in prior, current or upcoming scheduled discussions - therefore you will not find them on the voting list:
3. Thomas Jefferson (1801-1809) (multiple books)
6. John Quincy Adams (1825-1829) (multiple books and one upcoming on the first lady)
7. Andrew Jackson (1829-1837)
11. James K. Polk (1845-1849)
16. Abraham Lincoln (1861-1865) (multiple books)
18. Ulysses S. Grant (1869-1877)
26. Theodore Roosevelt (1901-1909) (multiple books and Unreasonable Men discussion going on now)
28. Woodrow Wilson (1913-1921)
32. Franklin D. Roosevelt (1933-1945) (multiple books)
34. Dwight D. Eisenhower (1953-1961 (multiple books and one just recently)
36. Lyndon B. Johnson (1963-1969) (multiple books)
37. Richard Nixon (1969-1974)
40. Ronald Reagan (1981-1989)
42. Bill Clinton (1993-2001)
1. George Washington (1789-1797) is now scheduled and slated
4. James Madison (1809-1817) is now scheduled and slated
If you do not recognize some of the names on the voting list - there were 14 presidents of the United States before George Washington and before the Constitution was ratified and we were asked to include them by the membership - here is a link which might help you identify who these folks were - http://atlantablackstar.com/2014/03/0...
Note: This is President Series Poll Five - We have 13,000+ members and one of the guidelines is that all members vote in polls and respond to event notifications (yes, maybe, no) - either or both of these take 1 second tops. Please vote and respond - that is what continues to make a community of readers timely and great and helps us with the planning which you enjoy reading. Thanks to all members.

I voted James Buchanan. I think we need an understanding of bad presidency as we approach January 20th.

Not sure Sharon - but he is far enough down in the vote right now - so there will be more books I am sure but there are a few out there already.

That is OK Jill - I am still waiting for someone to pick Tyler.

Very true Dominic - we can have lessons learned from both

It's the tale of getting France's support for the American Revolution.

I would MAYBE participate in a group read depending on my interest level in the book and my availability within the parameters of the group read schedule.
