Kate I see the publication date for THE TOTAL ECLIPSE OF NESTOR LOPEZ listed as July 21; a little late for a July read

Shella Turtle Boy by M. Evan Wolkenstein

Eli I just finished up The One and Only Bob and it was not great. I don't think it will win any awards :(

Shella Should we select a book based on that we liked the author's past work or we like the topic or based on recommendations from people that have actually read the title? I loved Scary Stories for Little Foxes for example- I hope we don't miss a title like that- so many already established authors are publishing books this year- which is great- but I hope we can discover a budding author if there is one out there. Eli thanks for posting.

Thank you Kate,
Goodreads had a May release date for The Total Eclipse of Nestor Lopez but upon further inspection I do see a release date of July. I have removed it from the list and we will revisit this title later in the year.

Kate Here in the Real World was the April read for this group

Jordan Caldwell I am starting The Invincible Summer of Juniper Jones by Davin McQueen. It sounds really good!

Shella I just finished The Invincible Summer of Juniper Jones- there is so much beauty in a story of underlying darkness-fantastic themes to explore and the character development is distinguished. Great bookend chapters. What took it out of the running for me was the premise that a white father of a biracial teen in 1955 would send his son to live for the summer with his aunt and uncle in his Deep South all white hometown for a punishment. The summer before there was a lynching of a black teen for developing a relationship with a white teen. Other than the unrealistic way that the adults dealt with this- it is a fantastic story.

Tami I have already read all of these selections—the Acevedo, Parker Rhodes & Stead choices were all 5 star reads for me. What about WHEN YOU TRAP A TIGER by Tae Keller or WE DREAM OF SPACE by Erin Estrada Kelly?

My apologies, it appears I didn't check the box allowing write in answers.
This was a mishap. You can change your vote to write in a suggestion. Or change your vote to another persons write in.
I will extend the vote a few more days to allow the change.

Kirsten Blue Skies by Anne Bustard surprised me. An angle of WW II that we don’t hear much about—what happens when the war is over. Great “hidden history.” I loved the final resolution.

Linda Johnson I read We Dream of Space and really liked it!
