Close this month. I loved A Rising Man, and enjoyed Gallows Court, but also really like the look of Somebody at the Door. Let's hope, whichever wins, some of these books are renominated.
I really must give Michael Innes another try. I enjoyed the first one, but then I got stuck - probably in the novel set in Scotland, which I found a real struggle!

Yes, very close - I see we have a tie at the moment! I have A Rising Man waiting on my Kindle, but I also liked The Franchise Affair and have been meaning to get back to Chandler and give Innes another try, and the others look good too. An embarrassment of riches, as you said!
Somebody at the Door by Raymond Postgate
The Franchise Affair by Josephine Tey
Appleby's End by Michael Innes
A Rising Man by Abir Mukherjee
The Big Sleep by Raymond Chandler
Nemesis at Raynham Parva aka Grim Vengeance by J.J. Connington
