The Alchemy of Stone is a steampunk tale that follows the point of view of an automaton. It has a little bit of romance and a lot of political intrigue.
Greenteeth Greenteeth is a book with a lot of buzz from a debut English/Aussie author. It has a unique, monstrous narrator. It is not a proper retelling, but it is strongly connected to folklore & mythology.
Sargassa is a highly rated historical fiction with heists, intrigue and librarians of forbidden knowledge.
Sons of Darkness is a high fantasy book complete with prophesied destinies, politics, war, pirates, and gods. It is NOT cozy.
The Teller of Small Fortunes is a cozy fantasy. Like many books with that label, there are warm vibes and detailed descriptions of food. The narrative shows how a premonition deemed 'small' can offer peace of mind and actually be significant in turn.
I've been recommended Sargassa and would like to read it eventually, but I'm rooting for The Teller of Small Fortunes because of my current reading mood.
Greenteeth looks interesting and if it doesn't win I'll probably check it out down the line.
