WTH IS WITH THE ENDING?!(SPOILERS)
Mark Mark (last edited Aug 21, 2012 03:36PM ) Aug 21, 2012 03:31PM
I thought this book sounded really awesome so i got it...But as many ppl complained it's REALLY misleading...But i still found it kinda enjoyable, I really wanted to like this book....I don't mind all the perverted stuff, Being a guy but at times it was TOO MUCH!

My biggest problem besides being tricked into reading it was the ending! WTH is really goin on? Sooo Jeremy imagined those guys with the masks and the disturbing freak show?? He was seeing his dad being tortured by having his body parts removed but at the very end it says that his dad was bat shit crazy and cut off his hand?? I know he was not taking his meds and was imagining the whole thing to cope with what his dad was doing, BUT Aimee WAS there so...And Rembrandt guy is MISSING so did Jeremy really killed him or what??

was really dissapointed with this book. like you said, misleading. only read it all cos i had started it, took 2 to 3 months to finish it.
was definately hoping for a lot better. ending was weird, most of the time i wasnt following it

It's funny, but I had the exact opposite feeling about the ending than Mark. ADD, as far as I know, doesn't cause hallucinations, and that was the only medication Jeremy admitted to being on. While he may be an unreliable narrator, I felt like the ending fit very neatly into place: plastic wrapped house to catch all the forensic evidence, brainwashed dad who would never sell out his cult brothers, and an ultra well connected cult that might very well be able to hide a murder, even if it was a teacher. I know the argument can be made that maybe Jeremy's story fits together too neatly; but there is that little matter of Aimee as a witness.

I think this is what they call an open ending, where you have to fill in the blanks for yourself.
