Anna Shumaker (annashu) It really isn't that bad. I'm pretty lucky to have my best friend and her family very close and they are like a second family anyway. And the worst part about cold is that I have to turn my heat on which I rarely do (I live in an apartment and my neighbors heat me pretty well) and I have had it on for almost 3 days now, not looking forward to getting the bill.

message 152: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker We had a nice set of storms on Wednesday. It had been quite warm (in the 70s), then cooler air began pushing in, which created a lovely thunderstorm. And it's been in the 30s ever since.

message 153: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 2140 comments *shiver* -16 C? Isn't that about 6 F? So cold! We haven't hit that low of temperatures yet, 14 F is the lowest we've had.

message 154: by Daisy (new)

Daisy | 686 comments It's about -10 C here, it's way too cold for me to do anything but sit inside, drink tea and read a book. It snowed on Monday and will again tonight and tomorrow.. But it's the best excuse ever to cuddle extra with my boyfriend :)

My brother in law works in the coldest place in Nevada and it was -19 F the other day. -7 when he went into work, and 2 when he came home. Yuck, Yuck, Yuck! I am not going to complain about our 40's, well I won't complain MUCH!

Due to the weather, Slumber Party at my house! Really bad flooding may force my sister, her husband, and their two kids to our side of the river and I also invited one of the ladies at my work and her husband if they needed a place to stay too. Seeing as we only have beds in two rooms, this should be interesting. :) Got to love Mother Nature!

message 157: by Jen (new)

Jen (wishesandwanderlust) | 696 comments We're currently in the middle of a snowstorm. It's not supposed to stop snowing until 6pm tomorrow. Luckily, I don't have to go out tomorrow so I'll be curled up with a book all day (when I'm not shoveling!)

message 158: by Tahleen (new)

Tahleen I am in that storm too. I get a snow day!! :) Well, at least from the library—we're closed because of the storm. I'm contemplating calling in sick to B&N, as I am actually sick and gross. Though not fever-sick.

Anyway. Yeah, huge storm up in here.

message 159: by Jen (new)

Jen | 111 comments lots of snow here too and soo windy... good time to catch up on some reading.

message 160: by Jen (new)

Jen (wishesandwanderlust) | 696 comments I am beyond ready for spring! My driveway is a sheet of ice and the paths we walk the puppy on in the backyard is all ice. Plus, there's at least two feet of snow and we're supposed to be getting more snow on Saturday.

Who else is ready for warm weather?

message 161: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 308 comments I AM!!

I've been off school pretty much this whole week, because we got a lovely ice storm tuesday night, and the best part is that we're getting another winter storm next week. I can't wait...not. My poor dog has been sliding everywhere too =(

message 162: by Tahleen (new)

Tahleen Yeah... I'm right there with you both. There must be an 8-foot snow mound at the ends of my driveway. We can't even see if a car is coming in either direction. Bad.

message 163: by Daisy (new)

Daisy | 686 comments We had that kind of weather in december, but I'm beyond ready for sun and warmth as well! It's storming here today, I hope I can get to my job in one piece..

I am trying to stay warm and we aren't getting snow. I am just a great big baby. I have been listening to a CD in my car that is all island sounding music to see if it helps warm me up, but now it just makes me wish I was on the islands more. :)

Who all is stuck in the horible snow out East? I know lots of you live that way. Stay safe.

message 165: by Tahleen (new)

Tahleen Meeeeee. LOTS of snow, and more coming. But at least I've gotten a bunch of snow days!

message 166: by Jess (new)

Jess New Englad weather is usually bipolar, but this is getting nuts! I love weather, I love to watch it snow, but now people's homes and businesses are collapsing because of all the snow, so my level of amusement is dropping rapidly. We're getting more this weekend and probably next week! At this rate, I'll have a white birthday! In August!

message 167: by Amy (new)

Amy Harrison | 26 comments We've been snowed in since Tuesday afternoon, with school closed and the roads so bad we couldn't leave. I live in my blankets by our fireplace LOL. But better too cold than too hot.

message 168: by Jen (new)

Jen (wishesandwanderlust) | 696 comments I want the sun to come out! It was rainy/cloudy all last week and this week its supposed to be the same type of weather. But at least we don't have snow on the ground anymore!

message 169: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 2140 comments The weather hear has been ridiculous. It's mostly been rainy and icky. Then we had a couple of nice days were it got all the way up to 75. Now we've had several more weeks of rain. One day was so bad that if flooded the theatre I'm performing in. They used shop vacs to clean it up. 20 gallons of water!

message 170: by Niel (new)

Niel | 390 comments I can't believe how bad it is in the midwest and south i feel bad for all those people stuck in the storms.

message 171: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 308 comments I've been in my basement for the majority of the night. We've had about 3 to 4 tornado warnings, and 3 hailstorms with golf ball sized hail. What a night though, and we're suppose to get even more later tonight, I can hardly wait.

that must really sucks sorry to hear that

message 173: by Tahleen (new)

Tahleen Oh no Kelly! Be careful! :(

message 174: by Jen (new)

Jen (wishesandwanderlust) | 696 comments The past couple of days it has been scorching hot during the day and at night we've been having terrible thunderstorms.

message 175: by AB (new)

AB (a-knee-bee) We had four feet of snow this winter. I missed most of it- I was in Morocco instead of Pennsylvania- but I kind of miss it now that we're in the middle of a scorching heat wave. It's been in the upper 90's for the past week, but no rain in sight to cool things down :(

message 176: by Tahleen (new)

Tahleen Jen, I think we're experiencing the same storms. I'm enjoying the thunderstorms actually, since they're not so bad where I am (Burlington, MA).

message 177: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 2140 comments We've had so much moisture here that they are seriously worried about flooding. The mountains are still covered in snow and as soon as it finally gets warm here and stays warm for more than 6-10 hours at a time, all that water is going to come down. They've already sand bagged some of the areas they are worried about.

We have lucked out (so far) on the flooding down this way. I see some of the photos up there Kimberly and it is crazy. Hope you stay dry.

Weather related in some instances so I am going to post here. Are any of you having horredous wild/forest fires? I live well North of the huge one in Arizona but we have had 3 smaller ones within the county I live in so far and it isn't even July yet. Scary stuff!

Did you all see this?

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/...

INSANE!

message 181: by Niel (new)

Niel | 390 comments That was an insane video, glade I don't live there anymore.

message 182: by Nikki (new)

Nikki That was on the Belgian news as well. I cannot imagine what it must be like seeing that in real life.

message 183: by Niel (new)

Niel | 390 comments I wish I could have seen it, that's what I am going to school to learn about.

Everyone affected by todays earthquakes okay? 2 major ones, one in Colorado and the other in Virginia. According to the earthquake map there have been dozens of smaller ones, but in places you expect them (California and Alaska mostly) Hope everyone is safe!

message 185: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 2140 comments We had the craziest weather today! I have never experience wind as strong as what we had today. It was so bad that they called a Shelter in Place on campus! The buildings were all locked down and the students couldn't leave because it was too dangerous. Then they canceled classes altogether and sent everyone home. I had to go to campus anyway to meet with an advisor. My car got hit by a tumbleweed. Not like it did any damage, but it made a rather loud "thwack" when it hit my car. Then when I was on campus I came very close to being literally knocked off my feet by the wind, several times. There were even videos on the news of students at my school getting knocked over by the wind. The damage is incredible. We were lucky at my house, not too much damage. Other places weren't so lucky. I saw one picture with this tree that was probably 50ish years old that had been toppled by the wind, and it took most of the ground around it with it. Power lines are down. Lot's of people lost their fences, Christmas decorations, roofing on their homes, siding. Hurricane speed winds.

I live in Utah . We never have weather like this!

message 186: by Tami (new)

Tami | 3103 comments Mod
Kimberly, we get winds down here every once in awhile around 60-70 mph, but these 100+ ones you all are getting are insane! Hang in there.

message 187: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 2140 comments I guess this must be Utah's (Or at least Northern Utah...) year for crazy weather. First we had the windstorms, they caused sooo much damage. 1.8 billion in damage to my university alone.

And the snow... there is none to speak of! Normally this time of year we're shoveling at least a foot of snow, if not more. We haven't had more than a few inches of snow yet this winter. And it's warm! We're supposed to have a high of 52 today! It's nuts! Snow is a pain to drive in, but I still love it. I'd really like to see some snow.

Kimberly, Our high yesterday was 60 something. :) Yes, a crazy weather pattern for Utah. Our tulips and daffodils are starting to pop up. It is only January for goodness sakes!

message 189: by Sara (new)

Sara I'm in Ontario and we got hit for two days with snow, it was pretty bad getting into work yesterday but the sun is out again. I wish I was somewhere warm :(

message 190: by Tami (new)

Tami | 3103 comments Mod
I am not complaining. (actually I have been, I want it warmer) I just think this is the wierdest weather we have had in quite awhile. We don't normally get snow, especially enough to stick to the ground, but last winter we got it several times. Now, not even a bit of rain.

message 191: by Niel (new)

Niel | 390 comments Its been weird year in southern California the weather has been so mild, and I want some storms.

message 192: by Tahleen (new)

Tahleen Here too! It's been pretty warm most of the winter, with only a few flurries here and there (I'm in Massachusetts). No snow on the horizon either, though it is getting colder.

message 193: by Niel (new)

Niel | 390 comments It seems to be getting warmer here, which, is a little weird. We've only had a little rain so I've been looking forward to more.
