Elana | 3 comments An alien planet has a problem they cannot solve. They determine the most prominent scientist on earth at that time, and send out a ship to abduct him, hoping he can solve their problem. However, they do not know whether the scientist is a man or a woman, so they find a person with that last name and abduct her. Turns out - she's not the scientist. They cannot send her back for the fear that she will unveil their existence, so she stays with them and falls in love with the alien with whom she lives. She teaches them to cry again and to feel emotion again. Few more details: The women on the alien planet don't carry their own children, but rather place embryos in disk-like incubators... There is another planet of bee-people in the plot.. And for some unknown reason I think the title starts with Y, has 5 letters, and is the name of the male alien protagonist (her lover). Don't remember the title, the author or any other names, unfortunately.

Read it in mid-90's...

Somehow this book touched me. Please, help me find it!!
Thank you!

Wow Elana--don't recognize this, but I sure hope someone else does as I now want to read it. Good hunting on this one.

Elana-I understand completely. I'm a Navy brat myself, so we moved a LOT (15 schools in 12 years) and then I moved a lot the first few years after I graduated high school. And each time we moved, I'd lose more and more of my things.

I still have books that I lost that way that I mourn. As I think of them, I Post here and then hope that someone will recognize them and come up with titles for me.

Kagama-the Literaturevixen | 599 comments The ones I can remember with the alien women not carrying their own children are

Janus is a Two-Headed God
DarkShip Thieves

But the other parts of your plot description doesnt match these books. :/

Elana-does that mean that this is your missing book? I hadn't even CONSIDERED Jacqueline Susann as a possible writer. If it is--I am going to have to break down and actually buy (or get from PaperbackSwap) a book by her.
