Malo Kemp is a security consultant and inter-system trader. A plea for help from a dying friend forces him to confront ghosts from the past, as well as the highest authority in the known worlds.

Meanwhile he's hoping that his ship The Patient Maid will make it through next gravity without tearing herself to pieces.
