This thread is now open. The intention of this thread is for those Group Members and Member Authors who have eligible books (which is all of them on the list For this first group read) who wish to post a link, comment, review or other information about their book. There is no requirement that anyone post anything.

The poll will include all books on the Book list for this first read, regardless if they have any in formation here or not. In the interest of encouraging the most participation, this phase will last through Wednesday, then we will open the poll for actual voting and close this thread, (though it will still be viewable).

If there are any questions, please let myself or Eileen know. Eileen will be moderating the group read itself as we get closer to that phase.

Again, any author who wants to get their book in for the vote, may still do so until we start actual voting.

Steve Trotter (steve_trotter) Resurrected: An Adam Wolf Thriller

"…fast-paced thriller in the Joe Pike/Jack Reacher style." – Sons of Spade

"…plenty of fast-paced action, liberally dosed with some dark humour and some moments of genuine invention. At its heart is the character of Wolf himself, who is one of the better thriller protagonists I’ve read in a long time.” – Indie BookSpot

“… a straightforward, action-packed debut. If you enjoy stories of pulpy vengeance, then Trotter and Wolf are likely to satisfy you.” – Crime Fiction Lover

"Resurrected is a fun and hard to put down thriller, very much recommended." – Midwest Book Review

"I really enjoyed this book… and as I don't do spoiler reviews, I leave you to read… and then salivate for book 2. My order is already in…" –The Kindle Book Review

C.E. Martin (cemartin2) | 58 comments Mythical Heart of Stone by C.E. Martin

Teens Josie Winters and Jimmy Kane are drawn into a world of monsters and magic they never knew existed when they find a super soldier left for dead in the desert.

Returning to life, with partial amnesia, Colonel Mark Kenslir eventually remembers his last mission: stop a shapeshifter on the loose in America. It can take the form, memories and even the powers of anyone- by ripping out and consuming their heart. Kenslir and his squad were sent to stop the shapeshifter, but were all killed when it unexpectedly assumed the form of a dragon.

Unarmed, with no support and not sure who to trust, Kenslir sets out with the teens to stop the shapeshifter’s killing spree.

"...The more I read the more I got hooked. The excitement builds gradually until it comes to a stupendous climax."
-Long and Short Reviews

"MYTHICAL is an interesting story and one that will captivate some readers..."
-The Reading Cafe.com

WARNING: My latest review, the reviewer felt the novel has some graphic violence and is worthy of a disclaimer/warning. I prefer to think of it as super violence, since the book takes place in a world with super soldiers, super heroes and super villains.

Joe Occhipinti (joeoccchipinti) | 14 comments Strangers in the Gale

Written from a cross-cultural point of view, Strangers in the Gale will interest readers who are looking for speculative fiction that is action-packed and character-driven.

I wrote the book while living among indigenous people of the Andes Mountains. Their lives motivated me to write a story with a unique cultural perspective on liberation, friendship, and a spiritual connection to the natural world.

Strangers in the Gale by Joe Occhipinti

An unconscious girl found on a clump of floating kelp radically complicates Bernardo's life. By all accounts, Ondas is supposed to be uninhabited. Why is the League government hiding the existence of the seafarers? In his quest for answers, the young biologist becomes entangled in a broader conflict that is about to take a recently colonized world to war. Bernardo is swept into a secret world of rebellion and espionage, and uncovers a genocidal policy by his government directed against the child's aboriginal culture. On this water world fraught with ubiquitous storms, Bernardo, a few of his colleagues, two enslaved technicians, and an enigmatic mystic fight for the girl's survival and that of her people, discovering a long-forgotten truth that will shake the foundations of worlds.

Henry Brown (machinetrooper) Hell and Gone by Henry Brown

Reading this book is pretty much like being strapped to a rocket for about three hours. - Jim Morris, author of War Story and Above and Beyond

Highly recommended. - Midwest Book Review

An action novel that hits you like a brick through a plate glass window. - Post Modern Pulps

This rag-tag gang of has-beens has never worked together before, but Dwight "Rocco" Cavarra has less than a week to train them and lead them on the hairiest operation of their lives. It's not bad enough that they have to plow through an African civil war, infiltrate a fortified terrorist encampment and steal a black market tactical nuke from a mob of fanatic sociopaths - there are Israeli wild cards in play: two death-dealing Mossad agents who don't necessarily share Cavarra's agenda. When the mission is compromised before it has even started, Rocco and his Retreads are caught between bloodthirsty local warlords and the genocidal government in a fight to the death. And this battle might be just the first in the next world war.

D.M. Coffman | 5 comments With a "style quite similar to that of Tom Clancy, ...suspense and action readers will enjoy this one." - Jennie Hansen, author and book critic for Meridian Magazine.
The Hainan Incident by D.M. Coffman
The Hainan Incident is "a thrilling ride through modern terrorism and Chinese culture. Nonstop action makes it impossible to put this book down until you've turned the last page." - Traci Hunter Abramson, Author

The Hainan Incident is a fast-paced, international suspense thriller set in China and the exotic tropical island of Hainan in the South China Sea. Having lived in China for four years, DM Coffman's novel is woven with personal experience and truths that bring chilling reality to the fiction.

Before beginning his undercover assignment to ferret out corruption in China's judicial courts, American attorney Yi Jichun travels to Hainan Island for some much-needed respite, but finds trouble instead. Yi stumbles upon a hidden computer network in an ancient island village and finds himself drawn into an investigation that could cost him his life.

Aided by Sarah, an esteemed fellow judge, and Meijuan, a village leader exiled by her powerful and corrupt son, Yi uncovers the Hainan Net--an international organization that targets global shipping channels in its quest for world power. But Yi loses ground when Sarah discovers his true identity as a foreign spy. And as the U.S. military organizes a stealth assault on Hainan, Yi must reconcile the laws governing the land with the laws governing his honor.

Published by Covenant Communications, Inc. and nominated for a Whitney Writing Award and cover art award, The Hainan Incident is available in paperback, audio CD, and ebook formats.

Canadian bookstore manager Cindy Suelzle said, "I thoroughly enjoyed The Hainan Incident, and I heartily recommend it. ... well-written, engaging, believable, even compelling. The Hainan Incident takes place on Mainland China with the main character being an American-born attorney of Chinese descent. ... A good man with the background, the education, the disguise, the language, and the patriotic desire to accept an unexpected assignment as an undercover agent to expose corruption in China's court system."

Tim Fairchild (timfairchild) | 69 comments Zero Point

Zero Point
"Finalist in the 2012 Clive Cussler Adventure Writers Competition."

Deep inside a volcanic lava tube in the Canary Islands, a clue to an ancient archaeological treasure is discovered.

A maniacal industrialist and a murderous crime boss will stop at nothing in their effort to control the world’s newest energy source; an energy device that will make oil obsolete.

A new and powerful weapon of mass destruction is on its final countdown to unleash nature's ultimate fury; the likes never before witnessed by mankind.

The fanatical leader of a secular movement will stop at nothing to ensure the ancient discoveries are never brought to light, even if it means - murder.

It’s a race against time as archaeologist, Josh Turner, and his friends, set out to stop the threat and save the lives of millions while seeking to discover the ancient artifacts before they are lost forever.

Inspired by the works of Clive Cussler and Tom Clancy; Tim Fairchild, in his premier action/adventure thriller Zero Point, blends fiction, history, and science in a daring way and asks the question; what if nature could be used as a weapon against us?

Mike Meyer DEADLY EYES
James Cuffy, better known as Cuff, is living in paradise with his girlfriend, Rosie, on the small Caribbean island of St. Croix, where the sky is as blue as Cuff's eyes, the ocean as pretty as Rosie's cheeks, where the gentle lapping of the waves is a lullaby, and the swaying of the palm trees is a dance. The sandy beaches are as white as sugar, and the horizon is a world away. St. Croix indeed is paradise, the perfect place for living, laughing, and loving.

But the sandy beaches and the turquoise sea can provide no cover from the deadly eyes of the unknown stalker pursuing Cuff. Murder leads to murder as he attempts to untangle the terrible web in which he has suddenly become entangled.

The twists and turns are many, the roads of the fast action leading in all directions. A diabolical force that shows them no mercy relentlessly pursues Cuff and Rosie, who realize that their time is running short. Can this sheer evil be defeated?

This review is from: A Child is Torn "Innocence Lost" (Kindle Edition)
Make room on your bookshelves for Dawn Whidden's A Child is Torn. The child in this instance is a 10 year old undersized boy named Brad Madison. When Police officer Marty Keal entered the Madison home on a routine investigation he found Brad, completely caked in dried blood, methodically playing video games. A bloody baseball bat is nearby and a trail of blood leads from the boy to the master bedroom. A man and woman have been savagely beaten to death. Detectives Jean Whitley and Joe Moran are called in to solve the murder but are dumbfounded when Brad confesses that he alone killed his parents. Can he be telling the truth? Could such a small boy have the physical strength to commit such a vicious act? If so, why would he do it. Has he been the victim of molestation? Were drugs involved? Is he being threatened by the real killer? While the detectives seek answers Brad becomes the court ordered patient of Dr. Hope Rubin, a psychiatrist who specializes in abnormal child behavior. She has to determine if he can be rehabilitated or must be institutionalized for the remainder of his life. Through various twists and turns, Hope attempts to oust Brad's demons while dealing with her own. When this fascinating case is solved the reader can only hope to meet this cast of characters in future, and regret that this page turner has ended. A splendid first novel.A Child is Torn: Innocence Lost

If you like PATTERSON, GARDNER, J.D.ROBB ETC. I think you will find that you will really enjoy this book. I have been told that it's the type of book you just can't put down! So here is a WARNING that comes with the book. DO NOT START TO READ IT IF YOU ARE ABOUT TO GO TO BED AND NEED 8 HOURS OF SLEEP.
