Rick Shepard | 2 comments This may be a lame question, but I wanted to clarify how to handle "The Franklin Library", The Franklin Library of Mystery Masterpieces" or "The Folio Society". I'm assuming these are imprints, not series, and would be listed under the description field. They do appear to be publishers as well, however, so I'm not sure if they should be listed there as well. They quite often will say something, in small print, like "published with the cooperation of Oxford Press", or some other publishing house. Who should I have as the publisher?

Lobstergirl The Folio Society is a publisher/imprint and that should go in the publisher field (it doesn't need to go in the description).

I'm not familiar with Franklin but I assume they're like the Easton Press and the Folio Society, so they would be an imprint as well. As for whether the Franklin Library of Mystery Masterpieces is a series, it would only be a series (using GR definition of series) if no other publisher had published those works. So for example if one of the books in the "series" is And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie, it could not be a series because that book did not originally exist as part of the Franklin imprint. Make sense?

If any of these are published with the cooperation of Oxford Press, I would still say the imprint would go in the publisher field. You always want the most specific publishing imprint to go in that field.
