Our September book club selection is Defending Jacob by William Landay. This mystery/thriller is set in the Boston area.

Looking forward to it, it's been awhile since I have made it!

So of course on 9/30 Jack has a football game at 1:00 and a soccer game at 3:00. I think I may use my "get out of one (well two) game free" card and skip them unless the guilt get to be too much for me!

What time are we meeting? I'll be traveling back from CT.

We are meeting at 1 PM at Rustic Kitchen @ Derby St.

Have have any of you started this yet? If so, what do you think of it?

I have started it - very early on in the book. So far I do like his writing style but am unsure about the characters.

I just started too but I do like it so far. Seems like it will suck me in if I ever finish the short story collection by Andre Dubus II and actually spend some time with it!

I just started Part II, and I'm loving it. I get angry that my lunch breaks end! I think the character development so far has been great, and I'm loving the POV of the father. There have been times where I want to just shake him and wake him up. I was pleasantly shocked when he addressed the reader at one point.

I am screwed. I haven't started yet and in fact I don't even have a copy of the book yet. I waited too long for my hold at the library. Even if I get it today at lunch, it is unlikely I will finish it in time for the meeting. But, I'll still go!

I just read through it and there are no real spoilers...even the one that exists toward the end is more of a joke than an actual spoiler.

Jess, I was worried about the same thing. I only started it on Tuesday and I'm flying through it over my lunch breaks. It's pretty quick to get through.

Yeah, I was thinking as I was reading this that it seems like it would be very adaptable for a film production.

And BTW, I am only about a quarter of the way throught the book so I will be bringing my ear muffs. ;)

I am at 33% myself so I'll be sporting the earmuffs too!

I finished this Friday. Knowing the end it's hard to judge how I would have felt otherwise but it was quick and easy.
