Welcome! Glad to have sooo many new fabulous members

message 52: by [deleted user] (new)

I am reintroducing myself today. The last year has been challenging to say the least and I haven't been able to be very active. My name is Shannon but everyone calls me Shay. I am an Army wife, avid reader, writer, sort of gamer and obsessive book buyer and library checker outer. I will read almost anything (no offense to anyone but I have tried and failed to like erotica) and am always open to suggestions or recommendations. My favorite genre is horror and Dean Koontz and Stephen King are to credit for my adoration of books.

I'm the same - it's a rare day when I exit a bookstore without having bought something.

It's so bad! I have run out of room for shelves and I know this when I go into the book store but...well...

Sonia Wormell Hi everyone! My name is Sonia and I live in New Brunswick, Canada with my husband and two daughters. I am 33 years old and have always loved reading for as long as I can remember. My favorite childhood picture book was The Little Engine that Could and later I got into The Babysitters Club, Fear Street, and Sweet Valley High. I always had a book in front of my face and not much has changed since then. lol I just wish I had more time to read!

Now, I love many different genres of books. Some of my favorites include Memoirs of a Geisha, The Five People you Meet in Heaven, The Good Father, and Sarah's Key. I work as a Library Assistant so I always have easy access to books, books, and more books! I look forward to chatting with all of you! :-)

Sonia

Brandy | 1 comments Hi Everyone!

I'm Brandy. I currently live in Florida but spent most of my childhood in Pennsylvania. I've always loved to read and will give most anything a try as long as the first page captures my imagination. I usually gravitate towards historical fiction with a healthy dose of fantasy and sci-fi thrown in. I'm currently on a Neil Gaiman kick (can't wait to get his new book in a few weeks!) but enjoy too many authors' to pick a favorite.

I've always wanted to join a book group and this one seemed so inviting! I'm looking forward to participating & getting to know everyone! :)

Amber (ukaunz) | 17 comments Hi all, I did the A-Z quiz but I guess I should introduce myself too :-)

I live in Canberra, capital of Australia. I'm 36, I have a 6 year old daughter and a 3 year old son. My husband is from New Zealand, we met while living in London. I went over to the UK on a working visa in 1999 and caught the travel bug. Since then I have been all over Western Europe, Scandinavia, India, Nepal, South East Asia, New Zealand, China, and a bit of the USA. I hope to do more travelling once the kids are a bit older.

I currently stay at home with my son, and help at my daughter's school on Fridays. Once my son is at school too I'll have to go back to paid work but I'm not sure what I want to do yet. My resume looks pretty sad due to all the travelling!

I love to read and have passed on my love of books to my kids. I'm very proud of my daughter who reads chapter books already. I have about 10 unfinished books on the go at any one time, but I'm actively reading 2 or 3, including the one I read to my daughter at bedtime.

Hopefully this group will get a new lease of life and I can get to know you all :-)

Hi Amber, welcome to the group!

I'm very jealous of all your traveling, there isn't anything I want to do more than see the rest of the world and I haven't had a chance to travel at all outside of Canada and the United States.

I hope you can find a place here in the group, and I look forward to seeing you around. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask!

Happy reading :)

Definitely travel when you can, Heather! My husband and I are dying to go on another trip, and have decided to take the kids next year. Originally we were looking at going to Egypt, Jordan and Israel, but that's out of the question now obviously. So now we're thinking about Sri Lanka. The kids will be 7½ and nearly 5. Are we crazy? I don't know...

ahaha it'll definitely be interesting bring the kids along. But I know growing up I would have loved to have been able to travel with my parents. I'm sure they'll enjoy it.

Katrina (kddkat) Hi, I'm Kat and I live in Texas. I love pretty much anything in the fiction category. I don't really have a favorite author (so many to choose from)but I'm a Nicholas Sparks, Dan Brown and Garth Stein fan. I'm an Army wife and stay at home mom to my 9 month old daughter. I love reading, cooking and spending time with my family. I just finished the book Strangeville by Kenneth Tingle, which I recommend to anybody who wants a quick read and a good laugh.

Amber (ukaunz) | 17 comments Hi Emma! I'm an Aussie too :-) An Abundance of Katherines sounds interesting! I haven't read The Fault in Our Stars yet, but it's on my TBR list. If I like it, I'll definitely look at the rest of John Green's books.

BTW, if you're interested in joining more discussions or challenges, check out the Aussie Readers group, http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/7... :-)
