Poll Open for the September/October Group Read until Wednesday September 12th
http://www.goodreads.com/poll/list/19...

General rules for Group Reads

1) If your nomination wins - you will be the discussion moderator.
2) One (1) nomination only per person. Authors: no self-nominations, please.
3) Please do not repeat an author we have read in the last year. Check the bookshelves to see the authors we've read in the past year. http://www.goodreads.com/group/booksh...
4) For your nomination please include Title, Author and Link (use the "add book/author" link at top of comment box).

Since we are an international group, please check to make sure the book is readily available. Is it available in paperback? Used? Your local library? The last thing we want is to nominate a great book that no one can get!

Finally, a word about series - the joy or bane of a mystery reader’s life! Please consider whether the book you are nominating would be best read by someone who has read all the previous books in the series or can be enjoyed by someone new to the series too.

Hi Les, Live by Night will not be released until October 2nd and our group read begins on 9/15/12. Also, we just read a book by Lehane in June and we try not to read an author we've read recently.

Would you like to nominate something else?

Hi, Unfortunately, we do not accept nominations from publishers, publicists, or authors for our group reads.

However, we are always interested in new and exciting publications so please feel free to post in the Author's Corner folder or the In the Press, Blogs, and Sites folder.

message 32: by Robin (new)

Robin Billings | 77 comments I'm with Mungboy - I would love to read a Ross MacDonald novel! I've never read one, and I am beginning to feel that's a big hole in my mystery and thriller reading list.

Les Roberts (LesRoberts) Robin wrote: "I'm with Mungboy - I would love to read a Ross MacDonald novel! I've never read one, and I am beginning to feel that's a big hole in my mystery and thriller reading list."

Ross MacDOnald was one of the best of all! Right up there with Hammett and Chandler.

message 34: by Robin (new)

Robin Billings | 77 comments Agreed, Les. I've read that Sue Grafton cites him as one of her main influences, and I'm a huge Grafton fan.

I really want to go back and read the masters of the genre - I feel like there's a hole in my reading, having read no Ross MacDonald. That's why I'd love to read one with the group!

message 35: by Carol (new)

Carol | 152 comments I always enjoy seeing the book nominations each month! I get so many great ideas for authors or titles I need to read, besides the titles we read as a group each month.
Thanks all for making me a more diverse reader!

I listened to this and thought it was excellent. There were times when I was listening while raking leaves and just stopped mid rake to listen. It has a strong regional character (New England) but if you are familiar with the area it is a bonus. If you are not, it does not matter. Still a very good book.

message 47: by Dina (new)

Dina Rae (dinarae) | 5 comments I nominate Carrie Barker's Revelations. Revelations

message 48: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 1 comments I'd like to nominate And When She Was Good by Laura Lippman.

message 49: by Jane (new)

Jane (goodreadscomjaned1959) The Huntress Moon by Alexandra Sokoloff sounds good, or The Ivory Grin by Ross MacDonald. Just please, NO Dan Brown. I'm so tired of him....

message 50: by Mackenzie (new)

Mackenzie Brown (mackbrown) I nominate Dark Prairies by RS Guthrie. A fine book from an emerging US thriller writer.
