New? Say Hello and Introduce yourself here! (September 2012)

Everything is great, Anita. The people here are truly lovely and it was great spending time with them.
I'm just totally pooped now.

Waving back Sarah !

I've been writing for many years but having only just released my first book I am currently feeling my way through the marketing side of things.
As well as writing I enjoy films, music and supporting my local football team, Huddersfield Town.
Welcome to the group, James!

We need to know more about your book. Will you open a section in the Meet our Authors thread, please?

Hi James :-)
It takes a while to get used to Goodreads but there is so much to look at and masses to interest you whatever you read or write. I'm only just starting to get used to it myself.

A word of advice on not knowing what to say, just say anything. It doesn't matter, we veer off topic a lot so you won't even get your wrist slapped for doing it!

I'm an American living in Scotland.
I've been on Goodreads for a while. I read a lot, but it seems like there's never enough time to read.
I read mostly classics and literary fiction and some non-fiction. Sometimes I'll read a bit of Dean Koontz or Stephen King. I've always suspected I'd love science fiction if I only knew which books to read. That's my problem - I never know which books to read. That's probably why I mostly read classics. That and the fact that they're usually free on Kindle or cheap as used paperbacks.

We read Steven King's The Stand last month (some of us read it) if you have read it and if you want to join in the discussion it'll be down at the bottom of the groups main page. Feel free to pitch on in and get the discussion going again.
The morning thread is also where we meet at all times of the day.

Some of us reckon we might still be reading it at Christmas...

As Sarah said most of us have tried all types of books that we maybe wouldn't have tried before kindle.
Welcome Mikaleigh and Katy!

made by Simon and Patti, the mods, who are just lovely (:
or, just head over to the morning thread in the 'general chat' section! Don't worry about what you post, it really doesn't have a topic! (:

I wish I could speak Spanish...
Welcome :o)
I love my kindle too mikaleigh, I never go anywhere without it!

I've been away for the last couple of days and my phone ran out of power this morning. I was just grateful it wasn't the Kindle and carried on reading.

Please start by adding a post to our ‘Introduce Yourself ‘ thread. We are a nosey lot and would love to know who you are, what you like to read (and write), where you live and what you drink, eat, wear and grow.
This thread meanders off-topic quite a bit but as soon as a new member comes along our friendly but bonkers members soon appear to give you a warm welcome.
Of course you don’t have to introduce yourself if you prefer. You could head off to Meet The Authors,
check out our Monthly Book Selection, check out the New releases or play some Group Games.
The Author Zone is going great guns. This is not just for authors by any means but gives them a place where they can talk about publishing challenges and resources. It is a no-promo zone!
Even if you don’t feel ready to post something you are most welcome to sit back and watch the fun.
This forum is very lightly moderated (hardly noticeable), occasionally we will ask you to keep a particular thread on topic and we have a few simple rules about author threads and new releases.
There are plenty of ebook related threads, author related discussions including a debate on the merits of KDP Select and a place to share your musical taste.
If you have any problems you can post questions on the threads or visit our Agony Aunt and someone will come along and help. If you would rather not ask your question publicly by all means send a personal message (PM) to Patti or myself and we will try to help.
The plan is to clear the Introductions thread monthly to see if it makes things a bit easier for new members. Old Introductions can be found in the archive.
