YA LGBT Books discussion

Hello ! I'm french so I share with some french supportive group for LGBT and specially christian lgbt. As I'm christian and lesbiann, I met some trouble with (former) friends who though I was ill or mad. These groups are very supportive even if they aren't 24/7 online.
I'm open to share and discuss with peaople if you want more information about help in France or homosexuality and religion :)

- http://www.trans-inter-action.org/ TRANS Inter Action is an associaiton created by transgendder for support transgender and their familiy. I met them and did som action with them, they are very friendly and helpfull. They are also helpfull for agender, non-binary (who I am). That is a little association based on Nantes only but they have contact across France.

- http://www.davidetjonathan.com/ A group of support for homosexual chrisitian. They are more open to gay than lesbian and they have a support group for transgender. They are present across all France.

- https://www.le-refuge.org/ "Le Refuge" is the most important group of help for young homosexuals (18 - 25 yo). They are present everywhere in France and help lgbt people who are forced to leave their home or/and victim of homophobia.

I've met all of them on Nantes and they are very nice. You can contact me if you want more information before contact them. Good luck !

This is a group that assists in providing binders and breast prostheses for people that can't afford them. There's also a surgery assistance fund to apply for.

MORF is a support/social group in Manchester for AFAB trans people. They also run a binder scheme, which offers free used binders to trans people anywhere in the world.

The Laurel Foundation - The Laurel Foundation is focused on the challenges that at-risk youth face (populations served are youth affected by HIV/AIDS, transgender and gender non-conforming (GNC) youth and other at-risk youth populations)

They have started a free summer camp in CA for non-cisgender youth.

I think it's going to vary a lot based on where you are. Here in Minneapolis, Avenues for Homeless Youth has a GLBT host home program. And other support services - the email for the director of that program can be found here top right : http://avenuesforyouth.org/contact-us/

Okay, I only joined this group because I have no idea what LGBTQ means. Can someone explain it in under 50 words?? Everyone keeps mentioning it, and I have no idea what it means.

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer/Questioning (eg. queer= asexual, agender, intersex, polysexual, aromantic, pansexual, etc.)

So we're a group of people who have an interest in books by and about and for teens who are not uniformly straight, cis gender, and alloromantic.

This book helped me tremendously with my dysphoria and showed me safer ways to go about binding. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a good short read that has nice personal stories and is looking to help the community

It's relevant because I feel like i missed out on boyhood. As a trans person, and I've battled since 2021 this idea in the back of my head which feels like a demon telling me I'll never be a real gay man and I'll never have the tools and all that stuff. I think that's why I like young adult books because its like I can have the boyhood I never got to.

I recently ended up cutting ties with many family members who told me I"m just mentally ill and can never be gay. or trans. So I've been plowing through books at a ridiculous speed to distract myself from that but then in books I've found this great comfort of these lives I've never had but wish I could've experienced. The support I read in some of these books from biological family. Its so nice. I just wish that everyone could have a warm supportive family. I wish my family could be like that. I've never distanced myself from my family before and its difficult because we are all trauma bonded in some way or another but I know I can't keep living pretending to be a girl some days and pretending they see me for who I am when they don't, and my feelings on the matter doesn't you know. matter.

We have transactual for infomation for trans youth and adults in the uk, as well as to help in keeping people up to date in the ever changing uk climate. I use the site regularly to help me find resources for living as a trans man as I don't have the support from family. They say they do but its been 5 years that I"ve lived as a man. I tried living as a woman for a bit but just woman't. You know? I can't. Yes I like dressing feminine. But women wear mens clothes all the time, why can't I as a man, dress feminine you know lmao.

I must admit dating has been awful. Too many men hate femmes and a lot of the guys I've dated have been against me transitioning. If anyone else has had simialr experiences I"m really sorry- just know you're not alone and you are just as human as everyone else.
