Jen Gentry | 25 comments I need guidance from other Christian authors. I am ready to post my book on Kindle. (I have done my research there, and I have the basics of posting there down) I need to know how to promote my book on blog sites like this one. Do you need permission to do that or do you just post it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Jenny

J.S. Bailey (jsbailey) Usually what I do is post threads asking if anyone would like to review my novel for free. Or you can post a thread containing your book's blurb and where it can be purchased. Just don't be pushy, and you should be fine!

Jen Gentry | 25 comments God Bless you for your very helpful advice. OK, here goes nothing, here goes everything. Next post is promoting.
My many thanks,
Jenny

Rod Horncastle It's great for you to ask.
Some people on Goodreads just endlessly draw attention to the fact that they Wrote a book. However, everyone and their Grandma seems to of written a book now (thanks to the internet).

Mentioning it is good when it fits the conversation (or possibly starts the conversation). But fitting it into every conversation is pathetic.

But promoting your art is important. So good luck!
Since this is your thread: I'd like to know abit about your book. :D

Jen Gentry | 25 comments The book is about a young girl named Emily. After her father dies she goes to live with her aunt. Her Aunt Gemma is a deaf mute who can see and talk to angels and demons. The story centers around a battle between the angels and demons of Hook Pond, where Emily lives with her Aunt. The battle involves Emily's best friend and her enemy who is the son of a Senator who is running for President. The Battle climaxes over the run for the Presidency as the Senator has some dark secrets. Ultimately it has some action, some forgiveness, and a little bit of romance as well as some mystery over some mysterious deaths. It is a clean Christian book written from Holy Spirit Filled Christian perspective. It is up on Kindle for 99 cents. I hope you will give it a try. And again I thank you so much for your help and interest.

Rod Horncastle Whoa, action packed.

I've been having a debate with my Son. I stated that nowhere in the bible does it mention that demons have weapons - yet Angels have flaming swords.
What do you think? Fun stuff eh? Would God make weapons for Demons to use against his own men...I don't think so.

message 7: by Jen (new)

Jen Gentry | 25 comments WHat the bible says is that the thief comes not but to kill steal and destroy. It also says that we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against spiritual wickedness in high places. In my book one demon possesses a sword. BUT the book is FICTION and the battle is really spiritual as the defeat of the demons comes at the hands of the prayers of the saints, which I believe gives the angels strength. Just my opinion though. You have given me some food for thought though. I do not think God gave any weapons for demons to use against man. I think man gave the demons that power through their own sin.
Also I wanted to point out that there is a scripture about 'no weapon formed against me shall stand.' I think refers to spiritual weapons. I am sure demons have many weapons they can use. I also think that the devils greatest weapon is our lack of knowledge of them. It is also my greatest believe that we as Christians weld the greatest weapon against the devil and that is the great and powerful name of Jesus. I guess in the end I have to agree with you, though, I do not believe God gave demons weapons. It something to think about. Thank you so much for your insight and awesome commentary.

Rod Horncastle Fun stuff.
i've spent years trying to fully understand demons and angels. Especially the Biblical truth about them...which is very different than the mytholigical Hollywood truth.

Your story sounds like great fun.
I'm very uncharismatic so I think demons are incredibly limited. Yet they serve a purpose throughout history.

Can you imagine the original war in heaven between demons and angels. It would be a strange fight given that the demons had to use only the weapons that were lying around...unless they stole an arsenal from the angels.

message 9: by Jen (new)

Jen Gentry | 25 comments I wonder if there even were any weapons at the time of that battle. I doubt there would have been a need for them before that time in heaven. I am trying to understand "uncharismatic"? Are demons limited, sure they are, Jesus made it so. But remember that Satan is referred to many times in the bible as the ruler over this earth, man made that so. Also remember that Satan tempted Jesus and offered to give him some of the great authority and power to rule over the earth that he had if Jesus would only bow down and worship him. That denotes that Satan and his demons have some power and authority and that with worship they can be even more powerful. Do you not think? However I am glad that you think of the demons as being limited in power. One should not give them any power in their lives. The demons must bow down to the children of God who have accepted Christ as their savior. But just as Jesus was tempted so shall man be.

As far as my book goes it is FICTION and meant for entertainment. It does contain reflections of my own charismatic values. But it is still just for entertainment.

I wonder if we will ever truly understand angels and demons and how they relate to each other, but I leave with this last thought. When Paul was in prison and prayed it took weeks for an angel of the Lord to come and rescue him. The angel told Paul that he had been held up by a great Prince of a Demon and had to go get Michael the great archangel to fight off this great and powerful demon so that he could pass and help free Paul. The angels and the demons have battled throughout the times before this time on the earth and I am sure they still battle even unto this day.

message 10: by Rod (new)

Rod Horncastle Yep, I think they are still battling as well. Demons probably do come in many sizes.

I wonder if Demons have chariots? We know for a fact that Angels do. Is it possible for Demons to steal weapons from angels? Most likely.

Do demons bow down to the children of God? Probably NOT in this lifetime. They don't listen to angels - so why would they listen to us? Can angels not do things in Jesus' name?
I think Jesus gave some people authority over demons for a small time (book of Acts - to get the church started) but then it was life as normal.
This would be my uncharismatic thinking.

message 11: by Jen (new)

Jen Gentry | 25 comments Oh NO! I think I have been misleading in my thoughts. Demons and or angels do not bow down to the sons of men they bow down to Jesus who lives within the believers of him. He has given them authority to do great things in his name. Where odes it say in the bible that Jesus ever took that authority away and that it was only for a short time to get the church started? I will see if I can send you a free copy of my book if you want it. And in answer to your question about chariots. Look up the Four beast with the four faces they had chariots that were like balls of fire they used for transport. I have to go to work now talk more later :0)

Rod Horncastle Thanks for chatting J.L.
This is a fun topic with lots of room for gray area's and imagination. Makes for great stories and ministry. :)

Jen Gentry | 25 comments You are so right. So I am thinking about the four living creatures with four faces in Ezekial's prophecy. Let me know what you think they are all about. I have some ideas but I wonder what you think. Ezekial chapter one.

I would make a post about it and list the url and price. I don't think one time is unreasonable for a separate post. Afterwards, if you can fit it into conversations, go for it. Good luck with your book J.L.,

William

Mickey Mullen (mrmullenvcncom) | 632 comments If Jesus said that He wanted to explain the parables that He spoke, "in a nonfiction book", who would send for it?

If Elijah said that he experienced salvation different than any church or religious doctrine, who would send for that nonfiction book? Malachi 4:5 Behold, I will send you, Elijah the prophet before The coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord:

Surprise me: Elijah; P O Box 1344 Casper, Wyoming 82601
"Elijah The Last Prophet" 3 bucks for postage would help.
