I really sucked at this one last year, too. I have to do it next year - my domestic tbr is just too huge. That's a great idea. I wonder how hard it would be to find out who's from where. I'll bet there are websites devoted to just that.

Dee (austhokie) | 438 comments I'm sure there are - and I want to make sure that i don't fall back on my standard romance...need to push the boundaries - most states have a writer's guild (of sorts)

Yvonne (ysareader) | 82 comments I'm already doing the ATW in 80 books but with no time limits. I'll probably attempt this one as well. I like to wing it though. Who knows what interesting books will come out in 2013. I wonder what's the least popular state that books (mainly fiction for me) are set in.

I think it's Delaware. It is so hard to find books set there.

Sue | 247 comments I plan to participate in the US Roadtrip challenge again this year. I'll keep track of the different states that are settings for the books I read. Reading books from all 50 states in one year is unrealistic for me, though. I will personally be happy to read books set in 20 different states.

Reading Plan (under construction):

New Hampshire: Handle With Care by Jodi Picoult
Vermont: See Now Then: A Novel by Jamaica Kincaid
Connecticut: Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver
New York: Wonder by R.J. Palacio
Pennsylvania: The Twelve Tribes of Hattie by Ayana Mathis
Maryland: Digging to America by Anne Tyler
Virginia: The Secret Life of CeeCee Wilkes by Diane Chamberlain
North Carolina: On Agate Hill by Lee Smith
Georgia: Saving CeeCee Honeycutt by Beth Hoffman
Florida: Ten Thousand Islands by Randy Wayne White
Alabama: To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
Mississippi: A Grown-Up Kind of Pretty by Joshilyn Jackson
Tennessee: The Ballad of Frankie Silver by Sharyn McCrumb
Arkansas: The Choiring of the Trees by Donald Harington
Illinois: The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger
Indiana: The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
Ohio: Beloved by Toni Morrison
Michigan: Winter Study by Nevada Barr
Wisconsin: Old World Murder by Kathleen Ernst
South Dakota: By the Shores of Silver Lake by Laura Ingalls Wilder
Nebraska: Sing Them Home: A Novel by Stephanie Kallos
Kansas: The Virgin of Small Plains by Nancy Pickard
Oklahoma: Out of the Dust by Karen Hesse
New Mexico: Ape House by Sara Gruen
Arizona: Dog on It by Spencer Quinn
California: The Egypt Game by Zilpha Keatley Snyder
Washington: Night Road by Kristin Hannah

I just read a book that took place in Delaware - it wasn't the greatest book ever, but I gave it 3.5 stars.

The Unbearable Book Club for Unsinkable Girls

Nancy H | 933 comments I am in for participating in this challenge again this year. I love this in that it makes me read books that I normally wouldn't pick up just to get that state. I have finished this challenge each of the last two years, and I have found some GREAT books that way. I tend to choose books and then just keep track of what states they are in as I read them, rather than planning out a structured list ahead of time. Can't wait to get started.

Happy Reading, everyone!
