Next Tuesday we're also recording an interview with author Cherie Priest.

She'll be inaugurating a slight tweak to the main show. We're moving Calendar over to the Book Club show and replacing Quick Burns with an introduction to the author.

This way our interview show becomes more of a guide to an author.

So what questions do you have Cherie Priest to help make our first "Guide" the best ever!?

Joe Informatico (joeinformatico) | 888 comments Yes! Cherie Priest is awesome. I saw her at Wild Wild West Expo in Tucson a couple years ago and she does a great Q&A.

My question: You've frequently incorporated the places you've lived into your stories with great effect. Can we expect to see your recent return to Tennessee similarly inform your next book?

P. Aaron Potter (paaronpotter) | 585 comments I was first offered "Boneshaker" as a "YA" novel...does she consider it one? How does she feel about it being categorized as such by some readers and reviwers?

To what extent can she comment on the religious themes in her work, and particularly how her own upbringing influenced (or failed to influence) her writing?

terpkristin | 4407 comments Never having read any of her books, what does she think is the "quintessential" read for a reader to be introduced to the "real" Cherie Priest?

It looks like her series have steampunk and vampire themes/memes. What drew her to those aspects of the genre?

message 5: by Grace (new)

Grace | 2 comments Loved "Boneshaker" and "Dreadnought." What can she tell us about her next work?
and Does she retain a love of Portland Oregon and will she write about it again?

message 6: by Brian (new)

Brian (bilborg) | 9 comments Boneshaker was my introduction to Cherie Priest, courtesy of @wilw, and I've enjoyed everything she's written that I've laid hands on since then. I'm wondering how things are going in Boneshaker-movie-land, or if nobody's talking about it because it's too freaking awesome!

Mark (markmtz) | 2822 comments Question for Cherie: In your Clockwork Century novels, the Civil War is still raging. Has any of your historical research provided you with factual background for any of the imaginary weapons you've created?

OOH, please ask this one. I would love to see a Boneshaker movie!

Laurel I have two questions:

The first is this - is there a possibility of the Cheshire Red series being picked up by someone else?

I loved Those Who Went Remain There Still. Any chance of another standalone from this era or world?

message 10: by Carine (new)

Carine (fuskerqq) I Just finished reading Clementine about month ago; while I was reading I noticed that the writing seemed different then in Boneshaker, Dreadnought and Ganymede. Was Clementine written in a different style? If yes was there a reason to why?

message 11: by KWinks (new)

KWinks (icameheretoread) | 31 comments Can you ask Cherie what she reads in her free time? I know she has very little of it (because she works full time and writes all of these books), but if she does find time to read is it all research?

message 12: by Tahoe (new)

Tahoe Kamman (djtahoe) | 1 comments I'd like to thank David Brin for introducing me to Cherie Priest. I really like the themes from drug addiction, family (both biological & chosen), race, & feminism. What was/is it about the "Steampunk" genre that attracted you as an author?

message 13: by Keith (new)

Keith (keithatc) This is such a piddly, dull question, but the notable empty spot on my bookshelf screams at me: why is Clementine out of print/not available in paperback like the other books? I appreciate the very inexpensive Kindle version, but that hole between Boneshaker and Dreadnought on the shelf is so irritating to me! :)
