Hi, Mods:
The Amazon button link on my GR page for my book "Black Hat Blues" doesn't connect to its Amazon page. Instead, it links to an Amazon query for "black hat blue" (sic) meaning my book is lost on the bottom of the page. Can this be fixed? Thanks. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4...

Because we move a lot, we're often "the new people" in groups. It becomes easy to feel when a group's leadership is honestly welcoming, or if they just say "Welcome" and then wander off to something more important.
A recent interaction with a Review Group Mod has made me feel welcome and valued. I really like that feeling.

So, if you get a review request that says they can't take gift books, and comes from [email protected], you might want to use a throw-away e-mail address. Or just not reply.
On the flip side, people like Gill, Phillip, and Lori are awesome writers. Get their books! Review them! Laugh a little!

Kat, not in relation to "I have a book on Amazon" conversations. And I've been in this group for a while, but the spam didn't start until after I sent the book. I had assumed (silly me) that it was a part of the "One for One" review response.
Kinda bummed, because everyone else I've dealt with in the "One for One" conversation has been awesome.

Hi Sarah! It is a requirement for participation in rounds or the one for one list that everyone be able to provide at least a pdf copy for reviewers.

Kat wrote: "Sarah wrote: "Hi, I have just joined this group. Before I join a specific review group, I wanted to ask about getting a copy of the book to the 4 reviewers. I cannot offer a PDF copy as I do not ha..."
Hi Kat, thanks for the reply. Is it possible to pay for and send a Kindle version or ebook instead? My publisher owns the rights, so pdf is difficult.

I'm another environmentalist, not a mod here just a fellow Earth-lover, and wanted to THANK YOU for your hard work.
Is it possible for your publisher to run a 99c sale or anything like this? Do you have a connection there with someone who could facilitate this?
I want you to find a tractable path here!

Thanks P.L. I am very passionate about the subject of recycling so it was amazing to be able to write the book and I'm very keen to improve its visibility. Thanks for the suggestions, I will contact the publisher and see if there are any other options.

Hi Sarah! I spoke with EM, who is our lovely head mod and she is also with a publisher. She mentioned that after nudging her publisher a bit, she was able to get them to give her a pdf copy of her book to send to people for review purposes as of course it benefits the publisher to get reviews on the book too. I wonder if this would provide a solution?

Hi Kat, Thanks so much, good to hear it can work. I have reached out to my contact, so let's hope they agree. :0)

That's an interesting idea. I wonder if there would be 3-4 takers for a mini round that was GR/B&N/Kobo. We've never done something like that before and I would need to run it by EM, but if we had enough people interested, it would be something to consider.

I would sign up :) (Maybe add BookBub too)

It would be great to have an ARC round too :)
Am I correct in that I can't sign up for the Novella round if my book is only on B&N / Kobo?

I guess the question is, is your purpose entering the round to get reviews on BN/Kobo, or would you be okay just getting GR reviews?
The issue becomes making extra work for the moderator trying to get people to post to two extra sites they did not agree to make accounts on or post reviews to upon signup and chasing down reviews for those sites.
If you're asking simply if you can sign up, give out pdfs and receive only a Goodreads review (and if anyone happens to review you on another platform, it's a bonus), then yes, we've had people do that with ARCs and it's worked okay.
I'll be OK with just GRs reviews, with others being a bonus. I'll sign up, although I'm not sure I'll fit. Thank you!

I would try reporting them to Goodreads. They *should* delete that account for obvious troll behavior. That said, I have reported many such accounts over the years for doing the same to my books and others, and never once has Goodreads deleted one of the accounts or removed the one stars from my books. A real frustration.
And of course... you would think if Goodreads was going to act, they would have acted 19,000 one star ratings ago...

Hi Tempest! We don't usually have groups that are that genre specific because it's hard to both fill them and also make sure that we avoid reciprocal reviewing. Right now we have a novella group looking for members, which is for works with fewer than 45,000 words.

There's also the one for one list, where you can choose any book from the first or second post of the list, read and review, and after you've posted your reviews on GR/Amz, your book will be added to the list for someone else to choose. Full instructions in the first post of the list:

Hope this helps! Warmly, Kat

should i await approval before joining a round? hope to be verified - have a very scant website to go through the verification process with.

Tempest, please try to get your author page set up first. Then we'd love to have you join a round! And don't worry if the current one fills up. We'll have more forming soon!

Yes! As long as it's under 45,000 words and you meet the other requirements of the round (you can read the first post of the thread for full instructions.) Thanks for getting your author profile set up and welcome to the group!

I'm new to this group. I've read a lot of pages/posts, but so far, I haven't found an answer to my question.
I belong to another book review group on GR, so I already know some authors and mods in this group, and I've read quite a few member books via the other group.
How does reciprocal reviewing work here if I've read a book from an author in another group?
Also, what happens if I try to join a Round and one of the books I'm suppose to read I've already read? May I request another book for that author?
Thank you so much in advance.
Amber

If you've already read the specific book assigned for that round, then if the author has other books available, you can read another one of their books as a substitution. If the author only has one book available, then it may be that whoever signed up second (that author or the person who has already reviewed them) will have to wait for the next round to start.
No matter if the reading was doing in this group, another group on Goodreads, or somewhere else like Facebook groups, each author must check the list of who is signed up to read in each group, check their goodreads shelf and if they review somewhere else, check there too, and make sure there are no previous review interactions.
Hope this helps. Kat :)

Thanks

I'm not a moderator, but I did the "free review request". They did choose to review my book, so a positive experience. It just took a little while for the review to show up because the free requests aren't their priority. And they did post the review on their own site and on Goodreads and Amazon, as they said they would.
