I've redesigned several of my book covers and need to change them, I tried adding another image, but it said that's not for book covers, so how do I change them?

open the book and there is edit details, you will get image area you can delete the image or add more images

I tried to delete the image to replace it and it said I wasn't allowed to, and the add images states it's not for book covers.

Shana, only full librarians can replace book covers. If you upload the new covers to your GR profile one of us will create Alternate Cover Editions for each of the books you have a new cover for (please include titles, etc.).

We never remove covers that have been previously published, even if they are no longer available. People want to shelve the book they own. Once the Alternate Cover editions become the most popularly shelved edition, they will become the new default edition that appears in searches, etc.

Ok - I've added Alternate cover editions for each of the above listed ebooks and I've combined them. Please check them over to make sure there aren't any errors.

Also, if you can post the publisher and publish date for each of these here, we can update the records and make them complete. :)

I think I've made an epic error, only 1 of the Bhirlach covers was showing so I thought I needed to combine the others, now they've all disappeared. I shall now step away from the computer and ask kindly for you to sort out my mess, sorry.

Ok, not epic - you just combined all your Bhirlach books under the Laurintha record. :) I've separated everything out and re-combined.

2 things to remember: 1. It might take a bit of time for the cache to refresh and the cover to appear everywhere (it especially takes some time in the Other Editions list). and 2. The new covers won't appear as the default until they are shelved more often that the old ones.

It's a shame about the covers not updating until shelved, none of them have been shelved so far, doubtful they will !!

Nael, I'm sorry if my response seemed a little short. As indicated in the FAQ and in the conversation in this thread about Shana's books, if you would like a librarian to add a new edition with a new cover for a book, you may always start a new thread for the book in question with information about the new edition and a link to the book cover. We will create the new edition with the new cover and combine it with the existing edition for you.

Upon close inspection, the only difference I see is that this cover image is higher quality and doesn't have the (blurry) URL on it. So I replaced the cover on the existing edition.

Should the Kindle edition have this cover as well?

Please be aware that we had ordered Amazon to stop sales and distribution of the kindle edition. If any such sales is still possible it would be illegal. I am not sure where would goodreads stand from this.

Jumping in...even if the edition is no longer being sold, we keep it in the database, so that readers who have read/purchased that edition in the past can shelve that edition. Think of us as a library, rather than a bookseller or advertiser.

Several weeks ago I added my novel The Paris Notebook, which came up as a little blank book icon. I thought, okay, well, I'm not J. K. Rowling. And then this morning I put Casual Vacancy on my "currently reading" list and it also had that little plain box cover. Why do I get these and how can I change them?

re your book there was no cover uploaded when the edition was added so there for the blank cover appears.

As for the J.K. Rowling book - that was a badly / incorrectly added edition which is fixed.
