Harsh Verma I completed the Void series some months back. I thought that it was an ingenious way to combine science fiction and fantasy - an alternate universe at the edge of the known universe in which paranormal powers are the norm while technological development rules supreme in the world outside. I always used to wonder whether Hamilton would ever delve into fantasy and found to my surprise that he had in a way combined both genres. Wonder if anyone else liked that style?

Overall, I enjoyed the trilogy, but I found myself increasingly annoyed with the "fantasy" sections. The Waterwalker was just too powerful and amazing to be a good story in and of itself; if it hadn't been encapsulated in the science fiction shell, I would have given up.

Harsh Verma I liked both but I think that the waterwalker could and should have been a separate book. What I liked was the fact that the Waterwalker was trying to deal with day to day problems of a modern society rather than princes rescuring lands or damsels in distress or some magical calamity. One dealt with thievery, corruption, urban spill, mafia etc. These concerns hardly ever find their way in fantasy. There was no sense of divinity in this fantasy or any mystic powers which robbed the appeal of fantasy but I think that it was very well done.
