Lisa Jo (lisajo85) | 35 comments Just curious, but was anyone else planning on participating in Dewey's Read-A-Thon?

For the people that haven't heard of it, you can visit their website here: http://24hourreadathon.com/

Basically you read for 24 hours straight. They have it twice a year and the next one is coming up October 13th.

I did it earlier this year and had a lot of fun. I didn't think I'd be able to stay awake for 24 hours, but was surprised by how quickly the time flew by.

The focus a lot on updating your progress through a blog during the read-a-thon, but it's not a requirement. I don't have one...I just posted updates through Twitter. If some of you were planning on doing it, maybe we could have a Goodreads topic and talk through that?

Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone else was planning on participating. Thought maybe we could cheer each other on! :-) No pressure though, I understand how many of you may not have enough time to do this!

Lina | 5563 comments OMG, I'd never heard of it, but I would love to read for 24 hours straight. I'll have to discuss with my husband about him taking care of the three little ones the next day.

Lisa Jo (lisajo85) | 35 comments I know its not for everyone. lol I like sleep too, but I always sacrifice sleep for a good book! Another part of it though is the online community that participates and cheers you on. It's like a reading slumber party!

Robin (Saturndoo) (robinsaturndoo) Looks like fun but I am not a blogger and **sighs** don't really know enough about blogging besides I go to one here and there from time to time and just read them. Don't know how to follow them, leave comments etc etc LMBO. So, I know I won't participate but hope those who do have a blast.

Lisa Jo (lisajo85) | 35 comments Having a blog or visiting other blogs isn't a requirement to participate. I don't have one and wasn't a part of one the last time I participated. I used Twitter...they have a hash tag (I think it's #readathon) that I used to communicate with other readers.

Basically, I spent most of the time reading (obviously) and when I needed a break, I would talk to other readers on Twitter. You can visit other blogs to win prizes and see how they've been doing if you want to, but a lot of them update through Twitter.

I was just thinking it would fun to communicate with different romance readers via Goodreads if there were any out there wanting to give it a try.

And don't think you HAVE to read 24 hours straight just to be a part of it...I mean you could read for two hours, twelve hours or the full 24. It could be whatever you want it to be. It's very open.

Robin (Saturndoo) (robinsaturndoo) I don't Twitter either...I have a Twitter account from a long long time ago and nobody Twittered much back then so I quit using it LOL I couldn't tell you the name or password I used...ooops. I really don't know what I will be doing that weekend but if it was here on GR I would probably stop in sometime.

Lina | 5563 comments Lisa Jo, I can definitely see the pull in a reading slumber party, lol! Not sure yet if I'll participate, but I'm very curious to find out more, so a big thanks for letting us know about it!!

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments I have a twitter. I use to tweet TONS, now it's mainly my goodreads updates. A reading slumber party does sound fun :)
