LOL...when I first started reading and you said you were a nerd, I was going to be like, "oh you shouldn't say that about yourself.". But, Card games and D&D..sorry, Janie, but you are kind of a nerd. LOL. Your still cool though.

Oh Heavens no I dont play D&D, the closest I got to that was Spellfire which only uses decks of playing cards and incorporates D&D worlds into the game. My ex used to play D&D and it would drive me crazy. I could not understand how it could be fun to write down numbers according to a game book and dice. But I will still be nerd...lol...I dont care...heh

My bad, I thought you said you played D&D. Sorry about that. You play a card game. LOL...I used to play Magic The Gathering when I was a freshmen in high school. Of course then we discovered girls, partying etc. LMAO.

Kit★ (xkittyxlzt) | 345 comments Finished the Arthurian story and now I'm reading The Bad Behavior of Belle Cantrell A Novel by Loraine Despres . It's set in the 1920's, so far it's pretty good, I'm enjoying it.

My kids used to play magic. They loved it, but simply grew out of it.

Holly I will have to try that book again. I tried once before and for some reason I just could not get into it.

Tim | 41 comments Hmm well I just finished Something Wicked This Way Comes. It was difficult at times to read with all the metaphors, but it was a good read that I think might become an annual read this time of year for me.

Now I'm about to get started on another older novel, Slaughterhouse Five. It's a good counterpart for CC since it's short and I can read it at work (shhh don't tell!).

Looking forward to a weekend spent reading Carrion Comfort and should be ready to start on Swan Song Monday.

Janie, since I seem to have grown proficient in twisting your arm into buddy reads, I will see you in the discussion for Swan Song soon!

Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut Swan Song by Robert R. McCammon

You should try to give it another try, Janie. IMO, it is one of the best psychological novels out there.

Maybe I was just not into Koontz at the time, or had other things going on, distraction and such. Anyway I will for sure try it again.

Reading From a Buick 8 right now. It is really very good. Giving the history of how they stumbled onto the car in the first place. And those 1958 Buick Roadmasters were sweet cars! Hubby and I googled them. LOL

That could be it. That's what happened to me when I tried to read Jane Eyre. When you give it another go, let me know what you think of it the second time. I hope your perception of it changes!

Lee (leeshirk) | 203 comments I just finished In the Tall Grass and it was a great little story. I just wished there was more of it. my review says the same thing, be cause there is not much you can do with a review on a sixty-five page short story with out giving everything away.

But the e-book came with the Prologue of Doctor Sleep, omg, I can't wait. Now I am off to read Mile 81

message 120: by Alondra (new)

Alondra Miller picked up Sherlock Holmes: The Complete Novels and Stories, Volume I again and am determined to finish. this will probably be a 3 Star read. I just don't like it as much as Agatha Christies Poirot.

Alondra, my mom loved Agatha Christie. I read a few of them and well I am just a mystery buff anyway! So I enjoyed what I read.

Terri nice list of reads you have coming up! I hear ya when you say you have so many! I have started Swan Song, and have IT Coming on the 18th, so excited.

If you wanna add a book cover to your post or a link, either one click on the link above the text box that says add book/author. Then a box will pop up just enter book name click on link or book cover and there you go.

well, all you can do is give it the old one-two; if you don't like it then so be it. i always give books 2 strikes and its out. 3 strikes is too much time for a book..

sorry it isn't grabbing you :(

Deanna (talgikiwi) Right now I'm reading the Great Gatsby, it's a pretty good book. I have to read it for my AP Language Arts class, but I'm pretty happy with the novel. Though, at times it's extremely confusing, I think I'm understanding a lot of the concepts shown.

Hope you continue to like it Deanna. My oldest daughter was in AP lauguage arts classes and they read a few books, one of them being The Scarlet Letter. She really liked that.

I loved Gatsby when we had to read it in my Honors English class in 10th or 11th grade. However, I absolutely hated Scarlet Letter. I think that one came in 9th or 10th grade, and I couldn't stand it, slogging through every word was a chore, I couldn't stand the characters or the situation, or the writing style the book was written with... Oh, it was horrible, I passed that section with a B instead of my usual A, but it was tough.
