Well this is interesting. Not sure if any of you have ever seen the movie Trapped with Kevin Bacon, Dakota Fanning and Charlize Thernon. It came out on 2002, any way it is the movie adaption to the book I am reading right now called 24 hours by Greg Iles. I thought this seemed awful familiar.
Yea I did not know either Holly, but I liked the movie, I thought it was pretty good. So I am guessing I will watch again after I read this book. So far it is pretty close.

I love Laymon. After reading Island, I went and got almost all of his books. I started The Traveling Vampire Show last night..."
Thanks for the warning, Janie. I guess "Bite" bites.

I thought it did, but you can form your own opinion of it.

No worries Tim. Everyone has obligations and, imho reading should not be one of them. Reading, and GR, should be for enjoyment. Glad to have you back!:)

Nice to have you back Tim! As Tracy said, no worries! Life sometimes does that to us!

Sounds interesting Chuck, that would make a great film I think.
I am presently reading The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon

I loved that one, Janie! What part are you on?
8:57PM Not really in the mood to read tonight, not sure why. (Victor I am on the chapter Top of the Fourth)

One of my non-GR real life friends (lol that sounds funny) has been telling me this book is great since high school... I finally decided to try it when I found a brand new looking copy on one of my book hunts... I gotta tell him I finally read it, lol.
1 a.m thinking about going to bed
Right now I'm reading: The Sense of an Ending (short-listed for 2011 Man Booker Prize), Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking, and Nine Parts of Desire: The Hidden World of Islamic Women. A nice variety.

I've read "The Sense of an Ending." I wish I could find more books like that.
Now reading White Jacket Required; a book of short stories, Happiness is a Chemical in the Brain; and have restarted Kafka on the Shore. (Chuck, The Sense of an Ending was awesome!)

I love those type of books where people wax philosophical about their past. Do you know of any others like that, Terri?
Chuck, have you read The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro? That's the only one that comes immediately to mind but I'll try and think of others. I'm also going to check out some more Julian Barnes, but I don't know if I'll find anything similar.

No, I haven't but it sounds vaguely familiar ... lol ... I didn't even think of reading more Barnes!

I'm reading Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami. It's like a lot of his work, somewhat esoteric and surrealistic and it needs a lot of concentration. The more I get into it the more I like it. A definite challenge.
Kit we are having a buddy read for The Neverending Story come December. If you'd like to join that would be great.
Ok so I am reading The Oath, by Frank Peretti. He writes Christian fiction, but I dont think he is as good as Dekker. But gonna give this book a shot. It is a fairly good size book so I hope it is not disappointing. So far it is pretty darn good.

Hi, Janie!
I really hope it isn't a disappoint for you, too. And you're exactly right, Peretti is nowhere near as good as Dekker, IMO. Then again, perhaps I should refrain from said opinion until I've read more of Peretti's work..?
I hear ya, but it is so hard to not choose Dekker over Peretti. I can breeze though Dekker stuff. I love it!
Major library haul yesterday. Reading the novel The World Without You by Joshua Henkin (really promising start), Unorthodox by Deborah Feldman (about a woman who left her Hasidic community), and some short stories by Julian Barnes, The Lemon Table. Also paging through a fantastic cookbook about Southeast Asian cooking, Hot Sour Salty Sweet--gorgeous pictures and great recipes.

I've only read Peretti's Illusion and it didn't really impress me at all. I gave it 2 stars. If you're interested, I did write a review of it.
