Read as many or as few categories as you have time for based around wacky, odd or obscure holidays.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month - Read a book that has the color pink on the cover.

Computer Learning Month - Read an ebook. There are many sites where you can get some ebook novella's free, or older books out of copyright. Authors sometimes give away a short ebook novella on their official websites. Library's are now offering ebooks that you can check out and download to your ereaders for two weeks. If you don't have an ereader, you can read ebooks on your computer. (I know not everyone will be able to do this one, but it's good to try new things now and then.)

Oct 11 - Take Your Teddy Bear to Work Day and
Oct 28 - Plush Animal Lover's Day
- Read a book with a stuffed animal mentioned in it, part of the plot, on the cover, or in the title.

Oct 13 - International Skeptics Day - Give a book another try. Try to finish a book you put down and didn't finish, or give an author another try if you didn't like one of their previous works.

Oct 27 - National Tell a Story Day (in Scotland and the U.K.) - Read a book that has been recommended to you or that is popular and being talked about alot.

Hi, me and my colors again! Does In a Witch's Wardrobe In a Witch's Wardrobe (A Witchcraft Mystery, #4) by Juliet Blackwell qualifies for pink cover?

message 5: by Heather L , Cozy Mysteries Moderator (new)

Heather L (wordtrix) | 27504 comments Mod
Hi Marisa! I'd say there is enough pink in that cover to qualify.

?? AND is there more to this one?

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) Shirley - I think she's combining Oct 11 and Oct. 28 holidays, since they both involve stuffed animals. :)

Thank you, Heather. As you can see, colors are not a strong point for me :(

Yep, I was combining both holidays as they both involved plush stuffed animals. You only need to read one book, but FYI you now know about two more odd, bizare and wacky holidays. lol

Lori If anyone is looking for a stuffed animal mystery, I seem to recall a stuffed pink bunny on the cover of the Aunt Dimity books by Nancy? Atherton.

Thanks for the reminder. It's a feature on the cover of her earlier books. I'm reading ghost themes and/or Halloween cozies this month and have some early Aunt Dimity's. The one I'm reading has both a pink bunny and a teddy bear on the cover.

Yes, the first run of Aunt Dimity covers had reginald, her pink bunny,on the cover somewhere. My boys loved looking for it as it wasn't always obvious where it was. I actuall prefer those covers over the newer ones but the publisher was trying to appeal to a new audience. And yes, Nancy Atherton wrote all the Aunt Dimity books. There is a recipe in each book. Family's favorite so far is Beth's Oatmeal Cookies which I think is in the first book, although all the recipes are available on the author's website.

I only managed to finish two for this month's challenge:

Computer Learning Month - Read an ebook.
The Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling

Oct 27 - National Tell a Story Day: Read a book that has been recommended to you or that is popular and being talked about a lot.
The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson (recommended)

I had a stuffed animal book in the pile, but just did not get to it. Better luck next month? I just looked at the challenges, and should be able to do at least three no problem.
