attempted (theabsolutedream) I don't know who can help me here but I have a question.

Is there a way to unlink an author profile from a User profile? I've been a part of this website for a few years, and oddly enough I like the normal User profile better. I've been looking for a way to unlink, but I can't find one, and I really don't want to have to start up another account just to have a User profile. If anyone has an answer for me, will you please elaborate? :)

Thanks!

Deborah You can't do it yourself, a staff member will have to do it for you. You could wait until one sees this message or just email support @ goodreads .com

That is the very issue I was going to enter! When I recently signed on to Goodreads I started adding content to my User profile. When I listed my own books, it was "merged with my Author profile." I continued working on both. Soon, the two became quite different: the User profile is more streamlined and gives "the big picture," while the actual Author profile (still being added to) is more detailed and specific. Both are useful and each serves a very different purpose. Yet there is no clear way to specifically point a person to the one or the other, is there? In fact, when and where does the Author's User profile appear to those clicking around his GoodReads pages? I'd like to keep both intact and separate.

Paula (paulaan) | 332 comments If you claim your author profile then your user profile is "merged" to that and users only see the Author version. You still have your shelves and books and have the ability to have a user photo and an author photo I think.

The only way to keep both is to have create a separate user profile with a different email address to one on your author profile.

Gene Ruyle (plainsmann) | 5 comments Thanks for such a swift reply! I guess, in effect, what I am regarding as my "User profile" is nothing more than a series of photos with my comments added -- although in its header it clearly says "Profile."
