Director of 'We Need to Talk About Kevin' Lynne Ramsay has achieved funding for her version of Moby Dick...set in space.

Since she's such a good director I think this'll be a really interesting film once it comes out.

:)

Kim | 477 comments Didn't Futurama already do an episode based on Moby Dick? :P

Bob (g3bg35gb45) | 12 comments I just finished reading The Count of Monte Cristo and cannot imagine how a movie of the story could successfully be set in space, however I'll give you the benefit of the doubt until I've seen it for myself.

Tamahome | 7221 comments Oh I thought it was based on a Mobius comic, but it's just the title of the movie.

Actually it's already been done--Norman Spinrad's 'Doomsday Machine' episode of the original Star Trek

Check out Alfred Bester's classic SF novel The Stars My Destination. The Count of Monte Cristo was a major inspiration for that novel.

I actually read "The Stars My Destination" before "The Count of Monte Cristo" I liked the Count better but both were really great novels.
