Today I heard Brad Thor called the new unemployment numbers "Orwellian" in his blog. So I'm guessing- not an Obama fan? I looked at his book list and he seems to be very much in the style on Vince Flynn/Tom Clancy. Anyone here read him?

Greyweather | 308 comments I've read his The Athena Project which was pretty good. He certainly knows how to write a cool chase scene.

You would be correct. Thor is a patriot.

Oh jeez. The Big Bad in The Lions of Lucerne is an oil tycoon fighting green energy initiatives. In fairness, this was written in 2002, pre-Solyndra and $5 gas, but still.

Greyweather | 308 comments I was a liberal ten years ago too, I won't hold it against him if reality has since smacked him in the face.

I noticed his later books seem to have Muslim terrorists as villains, so I expected a "Vince Flynn meets Ian Fleming" type story, but not with this book. Still It's part one of many so I'll keep going.

Greyweather | 308 comments It's also possible his agent or editor made him pick that villain and he went with it since it was his first published book. It was also published less than 3 months after 9/11 so it was most likely written before it happened.

Could be. Vince Flynn's first book was less than stellar as well.

Cool. Something to look forward to. I love finding prolific authors to read.

Sounds like Greyweather was right and the oil tycoon thing was just a first-book thing. That part was barely mentioned after the initial setup, and other baddies were either corrupt government people or mercs. In fact, it's even acknowledged that green energy stuff is controversial and costs jobs.
