Dale Modisette (lordshrill) | 343 comments I just finished my 10th book this month, titled Body of Sin (Otherkin, #4) by Eve Silver Body of Sin (Otherkin, #4)
by Eve Silver. My next book is The Divide (The Secret Circle, #4) by Aubrey Clark The Divide (The Secret Circle #4)
by Aubrey Clark, L.J. Smith

Arushi | 3652 comments That one is on my TBR pile too.. but I've been avoiding it for the exact same reason. Hummm.. if I read it.. I'll let you guys know if it is worth it :)

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 1164 comments Yeah, the first book is like 900 pages. Full of description...i started it and the prose is flowery with a feel like Memoirs of a geisha.

message 204: by Arushi (new)

Arushi | 3652 comments Flowery? Isn't it supposed to be assassin-y? *runs to read the blurb and then comes back*
Geisha-y it is then. That just sunk it even lower on my TBR pile, tho I did love that movie.

I am reading this series:
Bound (A Faery Story, #1) by Sophie Oak Beast (A Faery Story, #2) by Sophie Oak Beauty (A Faery Story, #3) by Sophie Oak

This is NOT YA, and is considered erotica. I love the world-building (vampires in this world are all uber business owners driven by profit). It's full of special touches, like Meg telling the Fae kids stories like the plot of Star Wars.

I have read a lot of books from siren publishing. A lot of it is bad, even for smut, but there are some really good stuff out there.

Kathy Davie (kathydavie) | 457 comments I gave up on covers and blurbs and now I open the book and read something at random to find out if I can survive the author's writing style and/or if it still sounds interesting at that point in the book.

I put these in my to read....Did you like the first one?

message 213: by Diane (new)

Diane (FriskyVamp) | 372 comments Just finished Haunted on Bourbon Street by Deanna Chase. I gave it 3.5 stars. Now reading Real Vampires have more to love. by Gerry Bartlett.

message 214: by Jax (new)

Jax | 831 comments Diane wrote: "I put these in my to read....Did you like the first one?"

I did indeed! :D
I gave them all 4/5 stars... just wish they were all a tad longer - definitely quick reads! But thoroughly enjoyable, and well written.
(Aside from the annoying habit of the male characters to condescend the females...LOL, oops my feminist tendencies are showing! Thank heavens I wasn't born in the 1800's!! :D )
I'll get round to typing up my thoughts, once I manage to gather their scattered remains...LOL

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 1164 comments Finishing Master of the Abyss (Mountain Masters, #2) by Cherise Sinclair . The forming of the relationship of master and sub is too quick to be believable but all the interactions are well done. Granted I know very little of BDSM but I like the way the author writes even if I am a wuss about BDSM scenes.

message 216: by Zeenat (new)

Zeenat (zeekwon) | 6376 comments I think the note at the front of the book by the author, she makes the comment that it takes time to build D/S relationships . . .and trust and blah blah blah. That these are just stories. She's probably more accurate than most.

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 1164 comments I have to agree on that, I like that Cherise puts both POV during the scenes...makes them feel more human.

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 1164 comments Dale, I don't know how you manage to read a series one after the other. I need variety and most of the time can't decide what to read. I commend your way of doing things....unlike me you at least you finish what you start. :)

message 220: by Kathy (new)

Kathy Davie (kathydavie) | 457 comments Finished Jaci Burton's Playing to Win from her Play-by-Play sports romance series as well as Margaret Frazer's The Reeve's Tale this morning. Reviews to come...

message 221: by Claire (new)

Claire (claire1) | 4451 comments I just finished the 7th Highlander book. It actually sets the stage for the Fever series and gives us some background on the Seelie queen/her motives.

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 1164 comments I started A Local Habitation (October Daye, #2) by Seanan McGuire early because it fits a reading challenge that I am doing. The first book did not really grab me. The fact that there is a buddy read here got me to look at the series again. I'm just sorry that I had to continue a bit early.

message 223: by Lannister (new)

Lannister (lannisteruk) | 10911 comments No problem Valerie. The books will still be fresh enough in your mind that you'll be able to join in any discussions, I'm sure. We're starting around mid-November, so we're not that far behind you.

Well, for the first time in over year I don't have a list of book I want to read next. But I do have over 800 more ebooks, audiobooks and paperbacks that I have that I just haven't got through yet. And I'm always looking for that next book in some of my favorite series.

Books Like:
1. The Nightmare Garden (Iron Codex, #2)
by Caitlin Kittredge
2. Devil's Business (Black London, #4)
by Caitlin Kittredge3
3. Endure (Need, #4)
by Carrie Jones
4. Kitty Rocks the House (Kitty Norville, #11)
by Carrie Vaughn
5. Dead Ever After (Sookie Stackhouse, #13)
by Charlaine Harris
6. House Rules (Chicagoland Vampires, #7)
by Chloe Neill
7. Dark Storm (Dark #23)
by Christine Feehan
8. Magic Without Mercy (Allie Beckstrom, #8)
by Devon Monk

I could go on for about 30 authors..........

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 1164 comments I know what you mean Dale. I myself have started too many series to keep up now. Damn, those series look fine but I only know 2 of the ones you listed. No, don't add more series, don't don't.....

Kathy Davie (kathydavie) | 457 comments Finished off Joanne Harris' Peaches for Father Francis and, oh, wow... She is so definitely a buy for me!!

message 227: by Gin (new)

Gin | 323 comments I think I'm gonna start Night Shift (Jill Kismet, #1) by Lilith Saintcrow tonight

message 228: by Zeenat (new)

Zeenat (zeekwon) | 6376 comments Thats why I don't start much new anymore . . . I am doing a lot of rereading right now. The only new book I'm reading is a bit dense and long, and will take forever, so it will be read with other stuff.

message 229: by Arushi (new)

Arushi | 3652 comments @Claire - You'll recommend finishing the Highlander series even if I do not plan to read Fever?

@Dale - How are the last few Artemis Fowl books? Did you review by any chance?

message 230: by Claire (new)

Claire (claire1) | 4451 comments @Arushi I thought it was pretty good and if you enjoyed the past books it's worth finishing. I think that the Fever series is superior in the quality of writing and in the plots that KMM comes up with, but if you really don't like it then it's not worth it.

message 231: by Arushi (new)

Arushi | 3652 comments Thanks Claire!

message 232: by Arushi (last edited Oct 30, 2012 02:31AM) (new)

Arushi | 3652 comments Has anyone read the Harry Hole series? I came across this article: http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2012/...
and it made me really curious.

Also Black Lament comes out today. I wish I could get it soon. I really wanna know what happens next in that series.

message 233: by Lannister (new)

Lannister (lannisteruk) | 10911 comments I haven't read it Arushi, but it's really popular I believe. It seems to get compared to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series, but I think it might just be because they're crime based stories from Scandinavian authors. I'd considered reading the first one but - as usual - never got round to it!

message 234: by Arushi (new)

Arushi | 3652 comments Hummm.. I have books 3,4 and 5. I am considering reading them. Eventually. Thanks Lannister.

I've never heard of that series.

message 236: by [deleted user] (new)

@Arushi - The Harry Hole series are not bad - I classify them more as mystery than thriller, but that's just me. I'm not sure if I liked them as much as the Millennium Series (Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, etc.) but they are entertaining. GR has been plugging the latest HH book, Phantom, endlessly.

Zeenat (zeekwon) | 6376 comments Couldn't sleep last night, so got through half of Iced (Dani O'Malley, #1) by Karen Marie Moning . Also reading Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy .

Rereading Magic In the Blood (Allie Beckstrom, #2) by Devon Monk White Witch, Black Curse (The Hollows, #7) by Kim Harrison and Black Magic Sanction (The Hollows, #8) by Kim Harrison

Anna | 1680 comments Just finished Inheritance (The Inheritance Cycle, #4) by Christopher Paolini as it has just come out in p/b over here. Disappointed. Can't decide whether to go for Game of Thrones 2 or something new. Worried about getting addicted to the former...

I have plans to start it in december

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 1164 comments I'm trying to read it before the new season of game of Thrones starts again. For some reason they changed the narrator in the audiobook on book 4 and having difficulty finding time to listen to it.
I'm not much ahead since the second season borrowed from book 3 a bit.

message 243: by Claire (new)

Claire (claire1) | 4451 comments Right now I'm trying to decide if I want to read Gunmetal Magic or find something else.

message 244: by Arushi (last edited Oct 31, 2012 09:49PM) (new)

Arushi | 3652 comments Game of Thrones!!!!

I am just rooting for it in general *grins*

@Claire - Gunmetal Magic is a good read, but not 5 star worthy.

I am reading Death's Rival finally!

I know what you mean. That is the feeling I had when I finished that book too. It does not leave you feeling high after finishing a series.

Clash of Kings is pretty awesome.. just fyi ;)

message 246: by Zeenat (new)

Zeenat (zeekwon) | 6376 comments Same list as before, but I finished Iced and reading American Dervish by Ayad Akhtar for another book group :)

Kathy Davie (kathydavie) | 457 comments I read Kalayna Price's Grave Dance and Diana Rowland's last night Mark of the Demon yesterday and am really enjoying Price and Rowland, so thanks everyone for the tip!

This morning I started Marjorie M. Liu's The Mortal Bone . I hadn't realized it was from her Hunter Kiss series or I'd'a latched on sooner!
