Tyler Lutz (tylerlutz) | 233 comments Very cool, German science fiction film from the 70's. it's about a scientist who helps build a supercomputer that allows users to experience a simulation of our world. Once his friends and colleagues start mysteriously disappearing without anyone but him remembering them, he goes cray cray and starts investigating, finding some very unsettling answers.

Reminded me of Mad Men meets The Matrix with cheesy 70's flair. Apparently it was based on a novel called Simulacron-3 from the 60's.

Only downside is that's nearly 4 hours long but I found it to be rather entertaining. The criterion version is on Netflix.

Sean O'Hara (seanohara) | 2365 comments There's a much shorter adaptation of Simulacron-3 from the '90s called The Thirteenth Floor. Since it came out the same year as The Matrix, people dismissed it as a knockoff even though the original story is from the '60s.

Sean O'Hara (seanohara) | 2365 comments I liked it, but I'll watch anything with Gretchen Mol in it.

Warren | 1556 comments The book Simulacron 3has been on my "read some day" list for quiet a while. Its a fairly old story.
Is it too dated to enjoy?
