Alaska Everfall (AlaskaEverfall) | 1 comments I was wondering where restrictions sit with an deleting an author's books.
I've noticed no such option exists, and it's more than possible my request will not be accepted.
All my books are first-drafts --they were never supposed to be "shared" with the world.
I gave away a PDF copy of these first drafts to a giveaway winner, and they started selling it on Barnes & Noble/Amazon, and received illegal profits for themselves.
I then notified Amazon/B&N of this, and they removed the content.
However, there were several people who purchased my "first draft" and read/reviewed my books on Goodreads. Although the ratings/reviews I've received are fairly high, I know this isn't my best work. This wasn't the way my books were supposed to be published --distributed illegally, people paying money to somebody who isn't the author, etc.
Now I understand Goodreads is a place for readers, and everything they've read, so I apologise if you are unable to delete my book(s).
But if you can't, could you at least delete this quote?

I'm working on the second-draft and this quote isn't a part of it at ALL.
Thank you,
Alaska

Nick (nickanthony51) | 400 comments Alaska,

I feel for you, really I do. Hopefully GR can remove those files for you.

But this is also why I do not download any of my work in full. A chapter here, a chapter there, maybe, but not the full work. Why? Because there are unscrupulous people out there that will pirate anything and everything. Why? Because they feel its safe to do so, because authors really are not going to take legal action due to the high cost of doing so.

So sad, but true...

Ricardo Pinto (hermitabroad) | 1 comments I've just joined goodreads and would like to remove a book

from my profile because it was written by someone else with the same name...

Paula (paulaan) | 332 comments Since the book has been reviewed it is unlikely a Librarian will be comfortable to delete as it is against policy.

Your best bet is to contact GR Support withe the explanation and see if a GR Employee will remove

The contact link is on the help page

You're never too old to kick, yell, scream and make a scene until you get your way.

Laura (lauragessert) | 1 comments Sorry to hear about this- You are not alone - I used to work for a famous publishing company and one of their editors I used to work for would take first drafts home. She told me she planned to write her own form the collage of all these person's work. She is an author now sadly :(
