Debra (debra_t) | 6542 comments I'd be up for that. It would be lovely to see the town, Betts Book Store (where they specialize in King's books), and the mansion, of course.

Oh, should I count this as a trick? I started Happier at Home: Kiss More, Jump More, Abandon a Project, Read Samuel Johnson, and My Other Experiments in the Practice of Everyday Life, but gave up because I ran out of time. One of the things in the title is 'Abandon a Project' and I abandonded my project of reading the book. HaHa!

Another book I abandoned was Unclutter Your Life in One Week (really belongs in the fiction section!). It actually had the nerve to say,
"People who read also typically have problems with overflowing bookshelves. You can't stop at just one book."
OK, I can't argue with that part - it's too true, but then -
"You cannot keep more books than you have space on your bookshelves to store. If you have more books than shelf space, you will always have books cluttering up your living space."
And what the hell's the matter with that?!?!
One solution was to use more audio and e-books. But then there are other ideas that are just too inflammatory to put on paper, well, computer screen. The woman obviously has issues that she needs to deal with, first and foremost this problem with books!

Janice (jamasc) | 59964 comments Uncluttering in one week won't happen during Toppler week. Cluttering is more likely!

Janice (jamasc) | 59964 comments There's something about an "uncluttered" person that is scary. :)

Ava Catherine | 4258 comments Well, duh! "You can't stop at just one book." That is like saying, "You don't really need to breathe. It's all in your imagination. " She is trying to sell a book, but readers don't need too many. Well, her book could easily hit the trash heap!! Housekeeping done! Shelves cleared! : )

@Judy: look at all the joy she is missing by not playing in her bookshelves and golphering and squirreling. Something traumatic must have happened to her as s child.

@Jaxnsmom: sounds to me like you have a trick there...abandon a project! perfect! lol. :)

Kat (katzombie) | 2478 comments Pfffft @ the Unclutter Lady. She'd have kittens if she knew I just sneaked in another bag of books and hid them under my coat to avoid detection.

I love my piles of books around the house, they make me happy so ner ner ner.
