Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments I treated myself to some of this, I've had my eye on it for ages but it's a real luxury. Finally went for it and it is really, really lovely stuff

I'm going to to make myself a gilet so just need one metre. I've just cut out the pieces and the floor looks like I've been shaving a cat!

Oooh, bet it's nice and soft! Please post a pic when you've made your gilet - I'd love to see it. (What's a gilet...?) ;0)

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments Love gilets! They are less restrictive than jackets.
The material looks sumptious Rosemary.I remember my mum having an astrakhan coat.

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments I've had a go at something new in craft terms - can't work out how to post photos here so here's a link to my blog about it. When I say new, I mean new to me - there are so many skilled people here it's probably old hat to several and you can have a laugh at my beginner's efforts! It was fun, though!

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments Went to see The Hobbit yesterday - Bilbo was wearing a lovely patchwork dressing gown... lots of small rectangles. Now that's got me thinking for next year!

I did notice that, but I obviously don't have the craft button in my head...

message 473: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments I too was eyeing Bilbo's dressing gown with some thought ...

I do a bit of weaving on an Ashford loom, and Ashford is a New Zealand firm that did the weaving for the Lord of the Rings films, including those handy greyish elven cloaks that hide Frodo and Sam from the guards at the Gate. Amazing cloth when you see it up close (though possibly not magical!)

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments I found a wonderful wool and craft shop in Fishguard yesterday and the owner suggested knitting with a circular needle which I've never done. Its been a revelation and so much lighter to handle on a large (little fatty) man's Aran jumper, I knitted about 7 inches of the back last night, I'm really pleased I took her advice. She had beautiful beads and every accessory you can want.

On closer inspection it appears that the archery book on how to build bows and arrows, was developed for boy scouts in the Phillipines! *makes mental note not to travel to the Phillipines...*

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments Anyone use decorative tape things?

I found a pile from my 'i collect all the pretty crap' stage and I don't know what to do with them. I'd gladly give them to a good home.
