I just had to have that clothes peg doll book! I almost made one for the Christmas tree this year but ran out of time. (Edit: I mean last Christmas! Certainly hope I haven't run out of time to make one THIS year...)

Anyway, I have now, hurrah, at last finished the family tree quilt. Taken far longer than I'd anticipated. Got there in the end tho.

If I'd known how long it was going to take, I'd never have started it! It seemed such a simple idea at the start... that'll teach me.

✿Claire✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments My mum arrived at the weekend with a cardigan she knitted for me. It's amazing, so warm and lovely and soft. Makes me feel inadequate as I can't even finish a pair of fingerless gloves!!

I'll have to make an effort this weekend, I'm so close to finishing it.

Might take it with me to the show so I can knit while waiting backstage

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments I am enjoying knitting wee jumpers for newborn babies in Africa. They are called 'the fish and chip babies' because prior to this initiative they were sent home from hospital wrapped in newspaper!
The jumpers have to be knitted in bright dark colours as they may never be washed apparantly. It seems so strange not using the normal pastel colours we would associate with baby garments.

message 669: by Kay (Golden Girl) (new)

Kay (Golden Girl) | 2193 comments Sarah that sounds lovely would have liked to do some knitting for African babies but when i looked The fish and chip babies site it says not to knit any more as they have not got a way of sending them anymore ,do you know if that is right

message 670: by [deleted user] (new)

My mother-in-law knits for the "fish and chip" babies too!

I must ask her about that, Kay - will be seeing her soon. She was knitting with a knit and knatter club.

I wonder if my niece would like that one?
Mum & I have been informed that niece will be visiting for a week or two during the summer holidays and we will be spending our time making wedding invitations.

message 673: by Philip (sarah) (new)

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments I was asked to make them just this week Kay. One of the hospitals I visit has a co-ordinator who sends them off. I don't think anyone else would want them in the colours I've used but I did say with minor adaptation they would make nice doggie coats;@)

Janet I have some spare wedding stationery card etc.If it's any use to you you are welcome to it!

Thanks!! I have no idea what we will be making yet -
Loopie has found something that she likes, but I'm hoping to talk her out of it as it involves cutting out hundreds of heart shapes ;)

A few years back when we were asked to knit stuff, we were told not to use white as it was associated with death. (more than a few years... it was when we were at school! That's quite a few decades. Plus ca change)

It is heart shaped petals that fold,
I've seen a picture of what she wants - http://www.brideandgroomdirect.co.uk/...
I do have a robo but I'm not sure if there is a template for the shape that she wants.

v pretty. Don't think the robo page size would be big enough but the shapes are pretty simple with a bit of welding.

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments Have just posted a pic of the hexagon quilt top - still more to do on it, but it's nearly there. I took it along to the book reading yesterday - amazing how many people started on hexagons in the early 70s (lots of Laura Ashley fabric) and are now digging them out and wanting to finish them!

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments In yesterday's 'Home' supplement in the Telegraph (not our usual paper, but wasn't much left due to the snow)
they were featuring a 'french revolution' look in home furnishings. I envisaged a lot of knitting and dropped stitches...

message 700: by [deleted user] (new)

Tee hee - I was imagining everything smashed up! Maybe not such a good look. Guillotine in the corner...?
