Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments The last invite I received had Wedding Invite cut out on the front, behind there was foil paper(navy blue) which showed through the cut out letters then there was a narrow navy ribbon down the left hand side with a diamante glued to it.
The bride and grooms names and date of the wedding were printed in silver at the bottom.
Inside the card there was a page with all the wedding details and then another which was the RSVP(this was perforated) and could be detached without spoiling the card.
Navy was the colour of the bridesmaids dresses.
Simple but very effective.

I'm looking forward to designing some for daughter's wedding. At the mo, apart from obviously picking up on the bride's colour theme, am keen to keep the design as flat as poss - postage will be a buxxer otherwise, but to have some sort of flap/pocket to add a small map.
Hearts will be easy to do with yr die cutter.
I think a bit of lace and a swirly design might look good. There are lots of embossing templates you can get to use with the die cutter, so the paper can have a lovely swirly design or whatever. I did pick up lots of packs of pearly white paper at the NEC ready to have a go.
Well worth having a look on Pinterest and building up a board of designs you like. Have fun!

I have a friend with Reynaud's syndrome - it must make crafting difficult for you? She was made very uncomfortable by the condition.

No problem with crafting Karen cos I'm nice & warm at home. It's Sainsburys and driving that sets it off! The chill air round the food cabinets and the cold steering wheel.

Glad you can still do your crafting with Reynaud's, Karen, I know that my friend was in a lot of pain whenever she got cold..

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments yep, I had to look at that one too! It says it's in English... I wonder.

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments Always wanted to try stained glass, but I don't quite trust myself with it. Lego, however ...

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments End of term and I feel the need of a sword. No room for a forge. Do you think a small woodburning stove would do?

message 1372: by Emma (new)

Emma Faragher | 301 comments It's enough to make me wonder if I could convince my other half to take up blacksmithing to make me one. Or maybe he could do it with a bit of metal and a belt sander or something. Don't think I'd be allowed to help though. I can use a sword (for anyone wanting to try google western martial arts, it's great fun) but nobody in their right mind is going to let me inside a forge for risk I'll manage to set fire to myself or skewer something... Might have to have a go at the scabbards though, I need to actually start reading these craft books but I'm currently too busy making presents, knitting a hat seems to be a bigger job than I was anticipating.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Forging swords, eh?

You crafty people are awesome.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Yeah, I find a homemade sword makes a neater job taking off a zombie's head than shop bought

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments You just don't get the same quality with shop bought, do you?

message 1378: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments And for stabbing vampires there's nothing quite like that home-forged silver blade, just like Grandma made.

Jay-me (Janet) | 3784 comments Onto my fourth decorated bauble now. Still some cards to finish and post. Perhaps I'll be done by Christmas 2014.

message 1382: by [deleted user] (new)

Wow - you do sound busy, Janet!

I haven't had much time for crafting lately. I've got several unfinished pieces on the go. Thinking of starting yet another for a friend who is in hospital at the mo, just had an op and will be having a long convalescence - thinking of making a zig zag blanket as everyone seems to like them and they work up quite quickly.

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments Frantically working on jersey for Christmas - collar and one sleeve to go but can only work while the intended recipient isn't in the house! may have to move to shed.

message 1385: by [deleted user] (new)

Awkward! Can you spend long visits at a helpful friend's house, knitting in comfort?

message 1387: by Emma (new)

Emma Faragher | 301 comments I've done an amp cover, a dress, a key hook (bit of wood with hooks screwed into it and painted with blackboard paint) and a jewellery holder (same as key thingy but with more and smaller hooks and fabric pockets). I'm half way through a knitted hat and have realised i really hate using small needles! Still to go, a bag for gun cleaning kit, a smart going out bag so my mum stops stealing mine and a note book in the style of River Song's diary from dr who. I'm going to do the text block for it tomorrow and I've got the most gorgeous blue leather for it that I'm going to emboss with my embossing machine (I highly recommend them by the way) so that it has the image of the tardis front on it. Hopefully it'll all go down well and I won't spontaneously combust before wrapping it all. Also need to do some more writing and I've just ordered a whole series of books for after Christmas so I'll still be busy then. Lol

Wow - you have been busy! I am in awe!!

Emma Faragher | 301 comments I'm on my Christmas holidays, I seem to have lost the knack of relaxing. Next year I may have to buy christmas presents. I also need to figure out if I can make a candle holder or if I need to buy one for my friend. Does anyone have any experience?

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I would suggest not knitting one...

message 1391: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments GL, PMSL!

My fave candle holders are shot glasses that came free with a bottle of whiskey.

message 1392: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments Glass paint? It can look good but often needs a few coats. Or perhaps just buy one if you have time to go to the shops - it sounds as if you have enough creativity on your hands!

Half a sleeve to go, then the sewing up. For some reason I thought Christmas Day was on Tuesday, so one whole extra evening to knit!!!

message 1393: by Philip (sarah) (new)

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments Wow Emma you have been busy!
Go Lexie, so pleased to hear you will finish in time.

I feel a tad burned out after crafting all my Christmas cards so having a break and looking forward to some new challenges next year.

message 1394: by Emma (new)

Emma Faragher | 301 comments I have managed to snap my needle on the fabric for the gun cleaning kit bag. Nearly had a complete breakdown and have reverted to watching Merlin.

message 1395: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh dear, Emma! Merlin seems a good antidote - along with tea and chocolate (or something stronger...)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments Is it that really strong canvas that most gun-related bags seem to be made of? Maybe upholstery needles? (after the chocolate, tea and something stronger, of course). Good luck!

message 1398: by Emma (new)

Emma Faragher | 301 comments I'm using upholstery fabric. The machine did fine until I tried to sew on the handles. Too many layers I feel. I'll have another go with a new needle and go slow. It's the left over from the amp cover for my other half. Then mum's going out bag will be made with coat weight wool covered with lace. Also added on a skirt for my friend. Purple stretch jersey overlaid with stretch black on silver lace. Hopefully it'll all come out alright now I've had my tea and oranges. Best of luck all and I hope everyone gets their crafting done in time.
