Karen Lowe | 1338 comments I've yet to find a good posture for sewing! I always end up hunched over.

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments Had to have the bottle craft one - even though I'm off alcohol for Lent!

message 1554: by Karen (new)

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments I'd already got the bottle one, but I'd forgotten about it. Will have to have a read thru it now.

They're lovely, Emma.

I'm making a Hello Kitty scarf at the mo for a young friend. The pattern is not conventially written so I'm having to refer to the photos a lot to try to work out what to do. It's looking nice though. Here is the pattern.

Later on, I will be using the kitty granny square as part of a blanket i will be making for another grandaughter who is Hello Kitty mad!

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments Thanks Karen. I just clicked the paper flower craft one, so it'll be interesting to see what I actually get, as the reviews all say they got a recipe book!

I'm busy sewing a little carrycot patchwork quilt at the mo - hope to get it finished in a day or 2, will post a pic then. I got some great fabrics at the NEC last week, to add to my secret hoard!

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments Have now finished the little quilt for the carrycot (first grandchild imminent!) and uploaded pic to the gallery https://www.goodreads.com/photo/group...
Am off to town in a mo for some fabric to start a crib-size quilt. Can never have too much fabric...

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments The quilt is gorgeous Karen. When is baby due?

message 1565: by Karen (new)

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments Thanks Lexie!
Sarah, that's very debatable at the mo!
All the way thru they've been telling her it's 'big' for its dates (tho by that they only mean it's projected to be 8lbs odd, which she was and her brother, and long limbed), and this week one midwife said it was 39 weeks and the student reckoned it was 37... Both her and her brother were ten days over tho, so it's anyone's guess.
I told her her bro wd never have fitted in a Moses basket... don't think she believed me!
Not long now, anyway.

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments Go with the midwife - doctors and medical students know nothing!

message 1567: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments My student midwife kept adding a day on to my due day everytime I went. Once I had my scan that put me back to the date I originally thought was my due date. I think she wasn't using the due date calculator properly (it's just a bit of card that you spin to the relevent LMD to get the expected due date) So I'm with Lexie, stick with the midwife's opinion.

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments Lexie wrote: "Go with the midwife - doctors and medical students know nothing!"

But she doesn't see the same midwife every time and this one also 'thought' the baby had turned the wrong way round, then wasn't sure, maybe it hadn't... which was not the most reassuring of appointments. But she didn't send daughter for a scan to reassure her. Hmm.

Love the quilt, Karen!

It's been ages since I've been able to catch up on here properly. We've had lots of work come in so this week and until the end of April should be hectic. We had a couple of weeks before then when we had very little work so I was crocheting like mad because I have a long list of blankets to do! Anyway, in those weeks before the mad work rush, I made (nearly) two blankets and a hello kitty scarf. I'm just finishing off the second blanket now as I didn't quite get it done in time. I've taken a quick photo of the first blanket which is very girly for a very girly grand daughter - I still have to finish weaving in the loose ends. I'll photograph the other blanket when I've finished, I'm pleased with the way it's turning out. I gave the scarf away before I could take a photo so I'll do that for the next one that I make.

Here's the link to the girly blanket.

And here's a link to the pattern that I used as a guide.

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments Love the colours in the girly blanket, Karen. Wish I could still crochet but it plays havoc with my wrist

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments Thanks Karen. Just missed the Selling crafts one! I'm sure it'll be on again tho, if the others are anything to go by.

Just starting another little quilt - for the crib this time. I'm doing an applique teddy for the centre panel. Will post a pic when it's finished. I do like doing little quilts (and cushions!) - don't have so long to wait till it's done.

Sounds lovely, Karen, look forward to seeing it! I like making cot blankets as well for the same reason - and scarves!

We've just come back from another work trip, spent a couple of days in Wales, then travel back working through gloucester and avon. Just before we left I finished making a second blanket (bar the weaving in of loose threads!) which I am pleased with. This one is a present for hubby but he doesn't realise it yet - he knows I'm making blankets for the grandkids so he just assumed this was another of them! I'll photograph it in a minute and post it (in it's rough state).

message 1577: by [deleted user] (new)

Here's a link to the ripple blanket which I have nearly finished. Just the weaving in of loose ends now. I don't crochet over them as I go as I find they tend to come loose again. So I sew them in with a tapestry needle. Bit boring but more effective in the long run.

I love making the ripple blankets as they work up quite quickly but look effective.

Ah, Jud - I certainly wouldn't sell one! Making one is a different thing tho - but I'm anticipating being a bit busy shortly...
I do put the templates (the sheep and the teddy) up on my blog so people can use them on their own little quilts.

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments Have you got a list of names Jud?
TBH me and my mum have had quite a laugh over boys' names. So few we really like. I did buy my daughter a book of Welsh names... SO many pretty names for girls, but boys, it's really tough. Daughter's two doggies have lovely names - Charlie and Tai. And ours was Ben. So that narrowed the field!
