Kay (Golden Girl) | 2193 comments Thats really lovely Shaun, everything you have made is so nice ,like the copper and stainless steel one

message 1904: by Shaun (new)

Shaun (shaunjeffrey) | 2467 comments Thanks, Kay. I hope to make some more of the copper and stainless steel ones to sell (have some thinner steel on order as what I have at the moment is tough to cut as it's quite thick). The previous one I made is in our garden as my other half claimed it for herself. Lol

Lovely so far!

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments Your dress looks lovely Emma, looking forward to seeing it decorated.

Love the dragonfly Shaun, unfortunately my laptop won't let me look at the water feature.

message 1907: by Karen (new)

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments Love the dress, Emma. Hope the decorating works out ok.
Just back from the Ed Fringe so catching up on what you've been up to! Love the ferns, Shaun. I do have a
'thing' about ferns

Trace (runetracey) | 0 comments my other addiction - apart from reading - is making cards and knitting :D

message 1909: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments What are you knitting just now? Are you like me - trying to keep it down to six things at a time?! :-)

message 1910: by Shaun (new)

Shaun (shaunjeffrey) | 2467 comments A couple more pieces put up for sale today via Etsy, Folksy and my website. One is a dragonfly hovering over a stainless steel lilypad, and the other is a orchid and butterfly: http://www.deshcadesigns.com/index.html

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments Love the way yr website is evolving.
Am delighted the weather's taking a turn for Autumn as have now got back into sewing. Currently making the bunting for impending Christening of new grandson (he's absolutely beautiful, tho insomniac at least when I'm babysitting - wouldn't mind a quid for everytime I've walked round the house with him, singing 'Grand Ole Duke of York' - he doesn't do lullabies)

message 1912: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments I'm enjoying the image of you walking him round the house singing and trailing bunting behind you!

message 1913: by Emma (new)

Emma Faragher | 301 comments For a moment I read it as you were making Christmas bunting! I'm planning to start on my Christmas cards soon and I'm trying desperately to avoid buying more stamps because I've found several sets that are amazing but of course they are american and not available in the UK and I just can't justify spending the cost another stamp set on postage, it's very sad. (I should probably stop watching simon says stamp YouTube videos but they are just so good) there's a set of Christmas stamps with cats and I want it so much and a set with a shelf and lots of book stamps which just blows my mind because it would be the perfect background builder and it's books! I could have cats on book shelves.

I'm going to go and pull myself together now, maybe make my friend a birthday card. (Which would be sooo much better with cat stamps as she's a huge cat lover despite being really rather allergic to them and I'm back to the stamp sets, damn it.)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments Deep breath! Calm!

message 1915: by Emma (new)

Emma Faragher | 301 comments I caved. I found the cat and Christmas stamps in a UK store (makethedayspecial.co.uk) and although they are slightly more expensive than in the US stores the postage is much cheaper and quicker. Yay for cat christmas and hopefully they will be in time to use on the card of my cat mad friend. I have an addiction, especially now I have my alcohol markers at uni!

message 1916: by Philip (sarah) (new)

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments Happy stamping Emma!

I started my Christmas card making a few weeks ago as MIL and SIL both asked me to craft some special cards for them, watch this space as I will probably end up buying most of my own cards.
Cross-stitching a map of Dumfries for Brothers 60th in October and finished a framed garden collage for sister to hang in her new cabin.

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments Anyone heard any news of Jud? Her due date's about now, I think.

message 1918: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Hey Lexie, I got your message but I hate typing more than 10 words on my phone so I haven't replied yet. I just posted in the morning thread though. No baby yet! Due date is Thursday so hoping it won't be too much longer, I just want to meet my wee baby and have them here safe and healthy. Thankfully I'm not too uncomfortable and can even get myself off the sofa which mum says is very jammy of me ;o)

message 1919: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments What, no forklift truck?! :-)

message 1920: by Emma (new)

Emma Faragher | 301 comments Learning about pregnancy at uni at the moment.

I found some fabric, a silky type (not silk) and a chiffon that I want to make a pretty ball gown fitted with A line skirt and the chiffon in an overlay. I'm debating whether I need to by an overlocker as I've been doing a lot of sewing recently and I've started to use higher end fabrics and want to get a really professional finish. Can anyone give me some pointers on what to buy and price ranges.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments I have just been on the point of buying an overlocker for the last 20 years Emma! I've always managed without though. Jaycotts usually have some good offers on
http://www.jaycotts.co.uk/collections...

message 1922: by Emma (new)

Emma Faragher | 301 comments I've been looking at getting one from ebay as they are far too expensive to buy new, even on sale. I'm looking at a max of about £60 if I can find a decent one. If not will start saving up!

message 1923: by Emma (new)

Emma Faragher | 301 comments So I've got a metre and a half of royal blue cotton velvet left over and want ideas on what to do with it. It's a lovely soft fabric left over from my Elsa dress but in the original royal blue colour. Thought about a skirt but I don't know where I'd wear it and I think I need an overlocker ideally before sewing anything with it which I'm currently debating buying.

Also my Christmas kitty stamps are amazing!

message 1924: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Oh did I say how amazing your dress was Emma?? I'd have known who you were meant to be even if you hadn't said! Have you done the decoration to it yet? I want to see it all finished and pretty and let it go and stuff :o)

message 1925: by Shaun (new)

Shaun (shaunjeffrey) | 2467 comments Another orchid made and up for sale: http://www.deshcadesigns.com/store/p3...

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I saw it on facebook Shaun, its lovely. Your designs keep getting better!

message 1927: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments Beautiful!

message 1928: by Shaun (new)

Shaun (shaunjeffrey) | 2467 comments Thanks. I wanted to keep this one a lighter colour, so it's more gold with hints of bronze and purple. Now if only I could generate more sales, I'd be happy. Lol.

message 1929: by Karen (new)

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments Stunning. Hopefully people will be Christmas shopping soon Shaun!

message 1930: by Shaun (new)

Shaun (shaunjeffrey) | 2467 comments Yes I'd love to do some craft fairs for Christmas but I won't have enough stock yet.

They came out better than I imagined. Not great, but from a distance they look like foxgloves. :)

message 1939: by Karen (new)

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments Love the lotus, and the foxgloves are cute.

message 1940: by Karen (new)

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments Finally found the name of the flower we love - it's got super seedheads, like little fairy toadstools! Nectaroscordum siculum. Trips off the tongue...
anyway, if you google the seed heads, there are some great pics eg

Pat () | -245 comments Oh! I have some of them in my back garden. Didn't remember what they were called and always called them fairy bells. The bees love them.

message 1942: by Emma (new)

Emma Faragher | 301 comments I want some of those flowers! I'm planning to build a little fairy tail oasis one day in my garden (when I have one) and I'll have to add these to the list.

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments Fab photo, Pat.
I bought some bulbs last autumn but was a bit late (as usual) putting them in so they'd dried out. Def need to have another go!

I've just been catching up with the thread - I just don't seem to get so much time these days. We've had a long spate of family visits and are now tied up with work again. I am of course, still crocheting in between and I have several things on the go at once!

I love those flowers that Pat and Karen have posted about, very pretty! I've also been following Shaun's output on facebook.

message 1947: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments No, no, I'm not doing Christmas yet. I'm just not!

Good to have you back, Karen!

message 1948: by Karen (new)

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments Thanks Karen! It has been a busy summer - ever since grandson arrived I don't seem to have got much done.
I've downloaded the Christmas gifts one so thanks for the link

message 1949: by Philip (sarah) (new)

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments Loving the new sculptures Shaun. My lilies are still in the sitting room (they should be in the garden) I can't bear to put them outside. Must get my Christmas order sorted out soon.
I'm currently making a holiday scrapbook for my brother's 60th also embroidering a map of his county it's worked on linen so my eyes are almost bleeding after a couple of hours stitching ;@)

message 1950: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments I've just finished my church tapestry! I'm the second one to finish but I think the others are going well, so we might meet the November deadline (though now we have to have them all stretched together and decide how to combine them into one wall hanging). I've started a new one, a Kaffe Fassett design of a frog - we had a fantastic exhibition of his work this summer which I think I visited six times!
