Karen Lowe | 1338 comments gorgeous glass. Love the bauble thingy

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments Ingrid and Meg were fantastic - I'd no idea we'd get so far.

Anita | 3313 comments Lovely Karen !

I like to watch glassblowing but never tempted to have a go. I wouldn't mind doing the whisky glass testing though.

message 2204: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments It was a particularly fine cask-strength Miltonduff I'd been saving for a special occasion - blowing my own glass to put it in seemed occasion enough!

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Gareth is out tonight so I'm going to get on with my sewing!! I have several things cut out so fingers crossed I can get at least one thing finished

Sounds like a good enough reason to me Lexie.

Do show us what you get done Jud.

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I got a dress done for Kitty ( the rainbow one) and a dress for me (spotty) but mine looks horrendous on so I don't know what I'll do with it. I might try and convert the skirt to a circle skirt instead. Added a bonus photo of Kitty and a short video of her smiling for the camera

message 2209: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments The dress looks great hanging up - shame! Kitty's one is lovely.

message 2210: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I still need to hem the rainbow one but since it is a circle skirt I was thinking I might get something to reinforce the hem first so it looks neater. I think the fabric for my dress is too heavy so it doesn't drape right and I was a little short. I made it to be a maternity dress so I might try it again when I have a bit more of a bump.

message 2211: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments Oh, hadn't realised! Bon chance - hope you're keeping well!

message 2212: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I am thank you, I had a bit of nausea but only for about 10 days although it felt like forever. Other than that I've been tired, hungry and I weep at the stupidest thing but I was all those things before falling pregnant anyway :o)

message 2213: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments Yeah, that never really goes away! Kitty excited?

message 2214: by Anita (new)

Anita | 3313 comments Lovely photos Jud ! Kitty is so cute ! She reminds me of Evie at that age. I've always loved the photo of you and her, it's a real cracker !
Maybe when bump grows a bit more the dress will hang better. I like the spots though, I had a ball gown in the blue and white spots up they were smaller spots, it's the only dress I've ever enjoyed wearing.
You make sure you look after yourself, hope the nausea doesn't last much longer, have you any idea how far on you are yet ? It's hard enough work being pregnant but throw a toddler into the mix and it's no wonder you are exhausted and a bit weepy, extra TLC and cuddles for Mum are in order I think.

message 2215: by Karen (new)

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments Love the little rainbow dress. Am sure as others said the spotty navy will look great when your shape changes a bit more - and congrats!

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments Awww, Kitty is so cute, she is growing so fast Jud. Dresses are both lovely.

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Lexie wrote: "Yeah, that never really goes away! Kitty excited?"

She doesn't understand yet, I hope she'll take it in her stride, she'll only just be 2 when they baby is born so she'll never remember having been on her own.

The nausea has gone now but I'm hungry ALL THE TIME!! It's very annoying I'm 10 weeks on Wednesday due in mid-October

message 2218: by Anita (new)

Anita | 3313 comments Don't you worry about Kitty, she will be just fine. She has a wonderful Mummy and Daddy and lots of loving people around her, how can she not be ! It's quite nice when they aren't too far apart in age for lots of reasons, hard work on your part but lovely as they grow up.
Pleased the nausea has gone and Nikki was hungry, or should I say hungrier, if that's possible. She has always had a huge appetite, despite the fact that she is tiny and being pregnant made it worse. We used to say, that she wasn't eating for 2 but for a whole football team. When you think of all the energy you need looking after Kitty, a home and working and then you became pregnant it's no wonder that you body is wanting more fuel, as long as you eat the right things, with a little of the wrong things thrown in, then you will be ok.
Nikki was born in October, she was nicely settled down for Christmas and spent hours sitting in her little chair watching the lights on the Christmas tree twinkling away.

I remember that stage - does it help to have crunchy things to sink your teeth in? Celery, raw veggies (if your tummy can tolerate them) - I wanted to bite something. But they had to be ready BEFORE I got hungry, or no dice.

message 2220: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Yeah, I really need to start preparing healthier snacks instead of buying butter laden brownies from the coffee shop.

message 2221: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments How weird - just received a message that Pat had posted here but the link failed and then when I came here I found nothing since Jud's post above! Maybe Pat posted then deleted it?

message 2222: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments Still trying to do Noah's Ark tapestry, planning altar frontal, crocheting hexagon blanket for friend's baby, knitting poncho for self and Norwegian jersey (that's been going on for a while). Don't feel I'm achieving much, though!

message 2223: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments That is strange, or could be Goodreads randomly sending you a message about a link posted ages ago. IT likes to remind us from time to time that it has it's own mind.

message 2224: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments Scary thought! But yes, a message from the past also occurred to me!

I did post here, links to my jumper photos. I didn't delete it. I'm not from the past just a little while ago, as far as I know.
Don't know where the post went.;-(

message 2226: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments That's even odder

message 2227: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments Very strange ...

message 2228: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I finally got around to cutting out new sleeves for one of my jumpers because I cut them out wrong the first time. The instructions are a nightmare though and it took me forever to figure out how they wanted everything sewn up so I ignored the instructions and have done it my own way. It is all clipped together and just need to get the sewing machine out to finish it off.

message 2229: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments I opened myself (and my wallet) up to temptation on Saturday and went to the Yarn Shop Day event at Wool for Ewe in Aberdeen. Needless to say I did not escape unscathed, though I told myself I only needed a 4mm crochet hook. Can justify most of it as Christmas presents, maybe!

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments That's a great shop Lexie. Full of temptations :)

message 2231: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I've never made it up to Wool for Ewe yet...

Morning!

Kitty has croup. I have a voucher for a free coffee but I am tempted to keep it until tomorrow in case tonight is another bad night. Oh the dilemma.

message 2232: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments Croup seems to be coming back - creeping out of the recesses of Jane Austen and Elizabeth Gaskill.

Yes, I now have wool I have no time to do anything with, to add to the rest of the wool I have no time to do anything with. But Wool for Ewe is lovely - local stuff and Noro and Araucania (um, not sure that's right) and felting, and one of the things I've got is roving from Noro - I used to knit roving to felt a lot when Lopi did it but then they stopped. Now Noro is doing it in lovely bright colours ... drooled for quite a while over it. I normally pass Wool for Ewe on a Sunday when it's safely closed, though they tell me they can still tell by the damp noseprints on the windows on a Monday morning.

message 2233: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I was probably called something else for a while and now people are going back to calling it croup

I might have to make an effort to call in some time, it's just a bit too far to walk to and I hate parking on the street. That's the reason I've never been :o)

message 2234: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments 23 bus goes to the top of the road and it's a pleasant enough walk down past the cheese shop, etc. or the 3 goes from Union Terrace up Rosemount - I don't like parking there either, but then I don't have a car!

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments I was horrified by the traffic in Aberdeen last time I helped my daughter move flat. Years ago I used to ride my moped in the town centre no problem - wouldn't do it now! And the roundabouts - wow. Like some kind of gladiatorial arena to test your mettle

message 2236: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments Just one massive game of chicken, particularly the Haudagain. The only safe way to go through that is by train, I think. I cycle in the city, but with discretion - and prayer!

message 2237: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Why does every roundabout have to have lights a car length away from the exit. You are trying to get on the roundabout and off again as quickly and safely as you can and then you have to slam the brakes on for pedestrians. It's a real pain. We used to stay out at Drumoak and came in to town by South Deeside, that roundabout as you come in to Aberdeen was like Russian Roulette.

Good to know about the buses! I have a bus pass (saves me from driving, that is the bus drivers problem!) :o)

message 2238: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments Ah, but if you're a pedestrian trying to walk around a roundabout, you don't want to have to walk halfway up the road to find a crossing! (particularly, in my case, when I was on crutches last year). Mind you, where the crossing is at the bottom of Powis Terrace on to Mounthooly roundabout I've never trusted any car to stop, it's so near the roundabout. I've never had to walk around the South Deeside one but I have driven round it - scary, particularly at rush hour.

message 2239: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Yeah, as a pedestrian it is handy and they are obviously there because people would cross there anyway even if the crossing was only a little way up the road.

I'm glad I don't have to drive round the South Deeside one at rush hour anymore :o)

message 2240: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I made another top last night, it covers the both of us :o)

message 2245: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments Finally finished two baby blankets and crocheted balls for an anticipated child of as yet unknown sex - one pink and purple, one blue, yellow and red. Always useful to have one in reserve and you never know - it might be twins!

message 2246: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments It's to be frosty next week. I'll probably be back into my coat!

Sounds lovely Lexie, I should really knit a wee cardi for this baby since I did one for Kitty

message 2248: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments Very pretty! I was always trying to avoid the awful nylon ones that just looked ready to melt any time they approached a candle, and fell apart after two parties.

message 2249: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments This one is all cotton, apart from the elastic around the neck and sleeves and it only cost around £10 for all the fabric. I have bought some fabric glitter pens to add a little sparkle but I don't know if I'll have the guts to use them. I'll need Gareth's help, he is the creative one.
