Frances Clark (throughtime) | 88 comments Hi everyone,I'm Frances. Thanks for the warm welcome and inviting me to introduce myself. I wrote my novels because I love the idea of traveling through time. My series is a little different from many, due to the fact the hero of my stories, Drake, isn't human. He only looks human. NIGMA is the first in the e-book series. All my books follow on from one another, though each is a stand alone story. If you are curious about Drake, you may have a sneak peek at the first chapter of each of the books on my website www.throughtime.webs.com I look forward to your comments

Thanks for introducing your books, Frances. It certainly sounds a refreshing spin on the time travel novels not having a human hero protagonist. I can only think of fantasy world fiction where sometimes the hero is not a human but even in that genre its rare.

Just read your first chapter sample of the Drake series, a very tantalising end! Definitely on my to-read list.

Well done.

Frances Clark (throughtime) | 88 comments Thanks. Being a struggling poor writer I had to do it all myself. In fact I have to do everything myself and that's not easy for a technically challenged individual such as myself.

Keep it up.

Now that Howard has called attention to it, that cover art is a perfect imagery from what I read of your first chapter sample. Nice work, Frances.

Howard Loring (howardloringgoodreadscom) | 1177 comments Frances, I’ve read your first chapter, also.

The jargon used comes hot & heavy, but this is not a concern for me, as I haven’t read your other stuff.

I will.

I like your style, it’s concise & you say what you mean as apposed to alluding to what you mean & this tells me you’re confidant & have found your own ‘voice.’

In other words, you’re direct & you let the story tell the tale & this shows me you’re competent, as well.

I really like the book’s blurb, it illustrates my point exactly: very tight.

Very nice.

The dialogue is great & that’s my strong suit also & can spot a stilted flow a mile away.

The story sounds interesting, too.

And I like the cover, as I said.

I will definitely check you out & meanwhile wish you much good energy to carry on into your Future.

Howard Loring (howardloringgoodreadscom) | 1177 comments Frances, why no picture?

Of course, given mine I'm making no judgement call here.

Just wondering.

This one really is me. They say a photo should reflect one's character. Enough said.

Red looks good on you.

Frances Clark (throughtime) | 88 comments I'm not sure my novels are really time travel stories after all. Though my protagonist is a time traveller, he doesn't actually get around to doing much traveling in time. He is always getting caught up in some kind of trouble which he then has to extricate himself from. Does this make them science fiction adventures rather than time travel stories? Hmmm!
I still like the idea of time travel and I really like this group so I'm staying.

Frances, not to worry, your books don't have to fall into one specific catagory or another & the genres often overlap & to good effect.

I call my books Epic Fables for this very reason; they are a mystery, detective tale, historical fiction, adventure saga and love story wrapped into a Time Traveling story.

What's wrong with that?

Stick to your guns & your readers will be pleased no matter the catagory.

Darn right you will! ;) Besides, your book still qualifies as a time travel novel anyway. In most TT novels, actual time travelling takes up very little estate. Its always mostly about the traveller dealing with a problem in an era he/she/they dont belong to. The actual time travel event itself could be just one page, serving as "the incident" that triggers off the main story or event which could be anything of any other genre from romance to horror. Having read your sample chapter, I have no doubt it alone qualifies your book as a TT novel :)
