Caroline (godwithus) Debate!

Shannon Eckrich (shannoneckrich) | 10 comments Okay, so I can't say anything bad about Twilight. I was really, really obsessed about it. Sure, it had some flaws and a few boring parts for me, but it's actually why I started writing.

Caroline (godwithus) I have only seen the first movie, because my mom made me. Vampire and Werewolf drama isn't my thing

Jamie Marchant (jamiemarchant) They are complete trash, but somehow they kept me reading through the entire series. I think the things they teach young girls about love and relationships are damaging--this idea that there is one and only one true love that you'll die without and that you should give up everything for love. Teen years don't need those kind of messages.

Leah (lepolk) | 6 comments I haven't read them, so I can't say much. However, werewolf/vampire stuff (or really anything supernatural/paranormal) is a major deciding factor in whether I read a book. I HATE (I mean, ABSOLUTELY DESPISE) anything within this genre. I might have read it for the sappy love story, but only because, you know, I'm a teenage girl. :)

I.S. Anderson (Eman1272) I bought a copy of the first book because I figured as an author I should see what all the hype is about. I wanted to be able discuss the book because I knew I would need to sooner or later, and here we are.

I could not get through this book. I made it about 100 pages in and I stopped reading out of boredom. I got tire of hearing how cute Edward was. "Yeah I get it, you like him, can we get to the plot now?"

Having said that, I respect Stephanie Myer and what Twilight has accomplished. Almost all YA novels published these days follow Twilight's formula to some extent. This may be good thing or a bad thing, but it is what it is. There is even a piece of Twilight fan fiction that got published and is doing fairly well, but that's a different discussion.

Hey Ian,

I don't think almost all YA novels are following Twilight's formula. The formula has always been there. The thing I hate is that no one can write a YA paranormal novel with out someone comparing it to Twilight now.
