Marilyn Holdsworth (marilynholdsworth) | 9 comments Oct 21. On this day in history 1793, Marie Antoinette was guillotined in Paris as the French Revolution continued. The following August, James Monroe and his Beautiful wife Elizabeth arrived in Paris, just days after Robespierre had suffered a similar fate. Check it out in my historical novel The Beautiful American.

Geoff Woodland | 63 comments Hi Marilyn,
It is ironic that it was also the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805, which saw the end of France and Spain's maritime adventures, and the beginning of the end of Napoleon's ambitions.

Ian Stewart (goodreadercomIanStewart) | 104 comments The Battle of Trafalgar sadly was the last battle of Admiral Horatio Nelson. He was hit by a marksman from the French ship Redoutable and died on the deck of his ship, HMS Victory, as I recall in my historical novel, Nanyang.

One of my protagonists says: “We won the battle but lost our greatest commander.”
