Hi, I am Evgeny from Montreal. When I was 7, I found a Sherlock Holmes book on my cousin's bookshelf, read it in half a day; I am a mystery fan since. I like English classic type mysteries (Agatha Christie), but sometimes I am in a mood for hard-boiled detective fiction (Raymond Chandler). I am happy to be here.

I've read Chandler and love him. Just a few more to go before I complete all his books. Also, Robert B. Parker was a devotee of Chandler with some considering his hi a successor to Chandler
Ross MacDonald, Mickey Spillaine and Charles Willeford are others to take a look at.
Also, there's a hard-boiled group other than this mystery group which you may want to check out.
Good luck and welcome. You'll enjoy Goodreads.

What is your favourite Holmes story?
Have you found your appreciation change with age?
Which story would you recommend to anyone who is unaware of 221B Baker Street?
Have you read Truth Dare Kill - Gordon Ferris (1st of Danny McRae series)
Thanks to everybody for welcoming me :)
As for Sherlock Holmes, my favorite story is probably The Speckled Band (short) and
The Hound of the Baskervilles (long). I do not think my appreciation for these books changed - they are like first love. For newcomers I would recommend very classic - The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes; any short story from here will do.
I have not read anything by Gordon Ferris.

Welcome! Raymond Chandler is my favorite/

Temple: Raymond Chandler is my favorite, too! People who think he's outdated and don't read him are missing out. He's as fresh and clean as a writer than when his books were originally published. Am sure you agree.
