Tee27 I don't know why, but I just can't read all the books in a series, no matter how good it is. I never seem to get past the second book.

Batsap | 117 comments Do you try to read the books all in one go? It can help to pace out books in a series, reading non-series books in between.

Tee27 I've never thought of that, Bastap. I'll give it a try. Does it count if I read the books a few years apart?

Paulfozz Count? In what way?

I rarely read series books one after another, you just get bogged down unless it's a REALLY good series. I often read them months or years apart and have still yet to read my copy of The Bourne Ultimatum after reading the first two at least three or four years ago.

Jasmine | 10 comments Sometimes I even need a break from series so I'll read singles or start a whole new series, OH so many books so little time, I wish I could get paid to read....

Janice (citereh) I rarely read series books one after another either. I have read all except the last book of the Into the Wilderness series by Donati, and it has been a couple of years I think, since I read the next to last book.

Jill Hutchinson (bucs1960) I never read series books all at one time. Continuing characters in series books have certain idiosyncrasies that can tend to get on one's nerves when taken in large doses. I spread them out over time and the characters seem fresh and retain their appeal.....the Monk,Poirot, and Nero Wofe books come to mind.

Tee27 You all are encouraging me to continue the series I've abandoned! Thanks :-).

Karen M | 418 comments I recently read A Game of Thrones and A Clash of Kings. I won't be going on to the next one, A Storm of Swords for a while. Too much of a good thing, maybe, or maybe 1100 pages seems very daunting right now. I plan on reading all of the series probably over the next couple of years.

I took a year to read the first two. Finished A Clash about a month ago and am taking a break for a few months before I start the third. It's a good series but too much to read all at once.
