Anne, I thought Kanwarpreet was supposed to be reviewing my book (A Sea Change) in Round 3/Group 4. I know I sent it to him... Let me know if I'm somehow mixed up.
A Sea Change Thanks... Annette

Kanwarpreet Grewal | 36 comments Annette,

Yes I would be reviewing your book "A Sea Change" for Group 4 round 3. I have read 80% of your book and will be finishing it in 2-3 days.

After that is done Group 4 round 4 will start in which I would be reviewing Tanjlisa's book.

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Magdalena - did you miss out on a round 3 review? We haven't heard from Katrina in a while and she was due to review you, wasn't she? I'll do one for you if you want, but it will take me a few weeks to fit it in.

message 21: by K.A. (new)

K.A. Krisko (kakrisko) | 1702 comments Remember, if you do the first one, you get the second one gratis with no obligation! And vice-versa - if I send someone the second one to review, they get the first one gratis with no obligation. Seems fair to me...

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks :) I think I have my head screwed on backwards. Tanjlisa is reviewing my book for this round. And yes, I'm still waiting on Katrina's review from round 3 :) No worries, it's a busy time of year and I don't want to add to the craziness of asking for the review....no worries as they say down under. Happy New Year everyone :)

Yes I'm still waiting :) Hey thanks for the offer, don't worry it's a crazy time of year and I don't want to add to the stress - thanks again :)

message 25: by K.J. (new)

K.J. Joyner (spearcarrier) Hi there - I see you're talking about me. It has been a crazy holiday, the craziest I've ever had. I had worked popped on me last minute and found myself with barely enough time to think, so all of my extra activities got dropped. I have two jobs, you see, on top of the third job of writing/creating. (And it is a job for me.) So I kept telling myself I had plenty of time to get that review in only to discover, when I'd finished round 3's book last night, that I was very very late with it. I'm sorry I disappeared on folks!

I put out my review for Magdalena's book last night. And at this time I have no idea if I'm supposed to be reviewing anything anymore or not reviewing anything anymore. I have a hard time following what's going on in the threads, I'm afraid.

Hi Katrina,
Hopefully our new policy of having all the dates in one group thread will make things easier in future but as you see from the top of this thread you were due to review KA (Kathy's) book by Jan 12th and to have sent yours to Peter to review. This is the last round of your group - then you will have done 4 reviews in exchange for 4. I gather that Magdalena has kindly offered to review Kathy's for you instead though.

Can you please post the link to your review on this thread to make it easier for the mods and everyone to find your review? Thank you! And hope everything is a bit less hectic for you now.

message 27: by Kanwarpreet (new)

Kanwarpreet Grewal | 36 comments Katrina,

Can you review my book "Shadows of Lost Time". Lisa has left the group. So it would be great if you could review my book.

Jay requested Laura( not a part of review group group 4) to review my book and I have sent my book to her. But if you could review it, that would be very helpful.

thank you
Kanwar

Kanwar - you're out of order asking Katrina to review.

message 31: by Marie-Anne (new)

Marie-Anne Mancio (hotelalphabet) | 139 comments Just to make it clear to everyone - Jay gives up a lot of her time to figure out who can review whom so that we don't have reciprocal reviews and so that authors can potentially start again in a new group later down the line.
If group members try to organise this for themselves it just creates confusion. So New Year's resolution please... let's all try to stick to the reviewing schedule we've committed to and not give Jay extra work

Jay, I apologize. Will be more careful in the future.

message 33: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Apology accepted, Kanwar. We all get confused at times about who's doing what - as you'll have seen me doing several times here lol! Hardly surprising as we now have 238 members, which I find quite amazing.

Have a good year writing and reviewing :)

Peter Prasad (goodreadscompeter_prasad) | 50 comments Put on your asbestos PJs and have a read of my review for Tanjlisa's Codename Fairy Godmother: Reassigned. Five star Huzzah! At Amazon US & UK and B&N.

This is one of the most inventive books I’ve ever read. Author Tanjlisa says she wants to encourage readers age 14+. Well, she encourages me, a rare visitor to young adult fantasy. Enjoyable and creative, with lots of pent up exploration of what human emotions mean to other-worldly folk, the story left me singing the fairy godmother’s song: “Good better best. I will never rest until my good is better and my better is best.” Imagine brain-washing all teenagers accordingly, where girls act only spice and boys always wash behind their ears.

Akin to Grimm on TV, this is a recasting of fairy and leprechaun roles with a modern update to black leather and biker chic, magic wands, instant scene changes, wish granting and debt collection methods drawn from The Godfather. Agent Thunder is a Huntress for the FGO (Fairy Godmother Organization) and so hot she’d roast the cover of Vogue. If spontaneous combustion has a mother, she is it. She is pitted against Ciaran, an alpha-hunka-hunka, who is in character diabolique with a thick Irish accent. If their relationship is infatuation, then it’s potentially earth-shattering. Together, their waltz could spin a Samoan creation myth, though the banks of the Arkansas River will do nicely.

Engrossed after three pages, I just wanted to know what made these fairies tick. By what rules do they grant wishes? And when was Agent Thunder appearing in my bedroom at 3am, wand at the ready? Come on down, says I, in my asbestos PJs. By page 105, I could only sip ice-water while soaking in the bath tub until I had read every page. Gasp and great balls of fire, I don’t remember coming up for air. Descriptive and alliterative, each sentence has been massaged to masterly atmospheric effect. We’re not in Kansas anymore, Toto, not even on planet Earth half the time.

OK, Tanjlisa Marie, set me up for a shot of pixie dust. I’m ready to flap my skirts and do the Can-Can after spending pages with these girl scout grant wishers on steroids. Every fairy tale I’ve even read has been shattered at warp speed. Who knew pulling emotions from a fairy was like visiting the dentist. After this tour of the off-worldly underside of fairyland, the back office of promise enforcement and favors returned on time, to the day, I’m ready to make offerings to my Irish heritage and keep the leprechauns at bay. I vote for the asthmatic genius in the day bed and am ready to be tattooed head to toe to walk a pristine Pacific island if it keeps the volcanoes benign.

Now, about that wish? I only get one? Huzzah for Tanjlisa! We readers need more of you. Please blow the lid off the library stack at your local junior high school by gifting this book.

Jay Howard (jay_howard) A glowing review for it here, Peter, and the book is showing your 5* rating and that you recommend it, but not the review that you've written here. Was GR playing up again?

message 39: by Peter (new)

Peter Prasad (goodreadscompeter_prasad) | 50 comments Hi Jay - I could not find the convenient link to post my review close to the book listing on Goodreads. I found one other review in October and a list of want to reads. So? Dunno?

message 40: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Ah, I see (which is something I didn't initially - some things on GR are not obvious) - when you click on rating a book, if you hover your mouse on the bit just above it, you'll see the option to review. Have you not seen this before, Peter, or is it part of the current difficulty many of us are facing at the moment in leaving reviews? I have asked the GR team to look into this and I'll keep you all posted with any updates.
