❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) There are some very very good reasons why Author's don't have the same editing abilities as Librarians. Having said that though, Authors do have a limited set of editing abilities for their books, provided they've claimed their Author status from GR. (Although I don't think editing series is one of them.)

Deborah | 390 comments I think it's the way the database is set up, series aren't owned by an author in quite the same way that books are, so it's harder to automatically give them editing rights.

Anyone can apply to be a librarian, but if an author just wants to edit their own books, they may be turned down. It used to be easier to become a librarian, but there are so many now that they are being more selective in who is approved.

With just my author abilities, I can combine editions (as well as add my own books), so I'm happy with that. If GR ever decides to add functionality so authors can add books to their own series, that would be great too. But I'm not holding my breath. So I'm depending on the librarians to help me out.

Thanks,
