I love it when people from the arts get recognition :)

Knighting entertainers has always seemed a little weird to me. Still, few of them deserve it more than Pratchett.

But otherwise I agree with Thomas - it's a bit weird to knight entertainers. What criteria can you possibly use to choose?

Representation of his country to the world through lifetime acheivements, I would imagine.

I am pretty happy to learn of this. I didn't realize that he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's until a few months ago and was pretty upset about it. Glad that he was able to enjoy the accolades.
